Ball pens, I like Cross. Fountain pens, I check with the Goblet Pens website; they are very responsive to questions, very good customer service.

I like fountain pens, and have a number of them. I think V-Tail was trying to say Goulet Pens, and he is right, they are good folks.

But I think it is hard to beat a Pilot G2. If you want to get something a little fancier, get something that takes a G2 refill. I have never like Parker's roller ball refill as much. Zebra's refill is nice, too.

I have one of these that I like.

Like many of you, I got Cross pens for different graduations. Okay, but not my favorites.

Space pens are one of my choices mostly because they will never get hot and leak in your pants pocket if you choose to carry them there. That is a big deal for me as I seem to have that problem when I carry a pen in the summer, other than Space Pens.

Otherwise, inside, and/or at a desk in an office or home-I like the various gel pens. But they are generally plastic and too large.

Pilot Metropolitan or Lamy Zebra. No ballpoint writes as nicely as a fountain pen with a tip that's been burnished in, in my opinion. I find that I can dial in the ink quality by buying various ink--really really black, or blues with a touch of green are my picks. For a desk pen, nothing finer than a fountain pen.

But, fountain pens have drawbacks. They can be finicky with changes in temperature/altitude, can fling ink dropped, etc. So, the pen I keep in my bag is a Pilot V5 rollerball. Flowy ink on a precise tip. The Pilot V5 is a pen and cap setup, which is fine in a briefcase or backpack, isn't great for pocket carry.

So, for pocket carry, I have a Pilot F-701 ballpoint. It is solid stainless steel, and will work swimmingly as a striking weapon without broadcasting "tactical" in the least. Icepick someone's forehead with a Benchmade or 5.11 tactical pen, and no doubt the tactical features in the marketing materials will make it in front of a jury--you won't be fooling anyone. But, a Zebra F-701 that you can pick up off the shelf from Target or Walmart? Plausible deniability.

I'm left handed and have to use an ink that dries quickly enough that it doesn't smear. Unfortunately I'm relegated mostly to ballpoints.

The Zebra F-301 is a great ballpoint that you can pick up for a few bucks. I keep a box of the fine line 301s in the office for filling out various forms for clients.

I like the Sheaffer Intensity line. They are inexpensive and I find them very comfortable. The Sheaffer ink dries fast enough so that there's no smearing.

I like Parker pens a lot and have a large collection. I don't like the Jotters. I do like the Sonnet line. The Parker QuinkFlow ballpoint refills are my favorite ink. Never smears.

Have you tried the Zebra Sarasa X20 Dry Gel? There are other dry gels out there but this one is probably my favorite.

I just remembered, I've got 3 boxes of the Skilcraft retractable ball point pens. They're the ones that have Skilcraft-US Government printed on them.

They're assembled in Greensboro NC by the Industries of the Blind. I like supporting them, such a good cause.

They're inexpensive, write reasonably well, they're just a little small for my large hands.

I get a kick out of giving them away. Someone always asked if I swiped them from some government office or post office etc. Nope! Get'em on Amazon.

They have an Aviator pen, I've never tried them.

I'm a big fountain pen user (Waterman, Pelikan, etc. all with extra broad or stub nibs). But back in the day I also had Pentel Rolling Writer gel pens at my desk and a Fischer Space Pen tucked away in a pocket for emergencies.

Gel pens have improved significantly since then. Newer models from Pentel, Zebra, Pilot, Uni-Ball, and others are worthy of a look.

Schmidt P8126 refill in any pen that will fit it.

Here is an example of a high-quality pen that can use this refill:

https://karaskustoms.com/produ...ect-edk-trim-package

Edited to add - you can also try the Schmidt EasyFlow 9000 refill in the same pen, which is sort of a hybrid between a rollerball and a ballpoint. I think it is technically a ballpoint, but with some hybrid ink that writes a lot smoother.

Parker G2 is my everyday at the desk pen, won't go back to the old Bic, these are the best JMO.

The montblanc I have is for out of the office when visiting with clients, gotta have the bling bling don't want to look cheap.

I like the Pilot G2 Limited. Basically a heavier metal version of the G2. Less than $12, refills available almost anywhere, and in just about any color or thickness you prefer. I like a blue 0.7mm.

I bought this last year. I wanted a titanium construction that takes a Pilot G2 .05. I put that refill in this and used the Pilot spring. I have been using it everyday and am very happy with it. I’ve thought of buying a second one to keep on my desk.

I'm on a roll and have managed to keep this one for several years now.
Gerber Stainless Steel pen with a carbide glass breaker tip, uses Space Pen ink cartridges, think I paid $50.
