It's a travesty that her parents' only means of justice is through a corrupt and biased government. They should be allowed carte blanche in whatever vengeance they seek against her attacker and the rest of thee scum that share genetics with it.

That wasn't a fight. That was an execution. Calling it a "fight" doesn't do justice to what actually occurred. If the murderer isn't charged with at least second degree murder and as an adult, then you know the fix is in.

I've never seen a video of the full fight. However from the OP, the victim was disadvantaged right from the beginning. I never saw her throw a punch or do anything but try and protect her head while the suspect delivered a flurry of blows to her head.

She wasn't able to defend herself at all when her head was being beaten into the concrete. I would expect an honor student and all around great person to know that is not appropriate action.

Victim was knocked to the ground. Perp got on top of her and repeatedly slammed her head into the roadway. The sound was gruesome.

After perp got up and was walking around, you can see the victim having a seizure and people going to her.

It was bad.

The actions of the perp don't reflect very well on her honor student status. It was just thuggery.

Lets be honest, now a days and at that school, an "Honor" Student is someone who has shown up for at least half the school days and maintains a C or C- average with some "B"s in progressive woke classes.

The family and attorney are just doing the "ignore the video and your lying eyes" defense strategy. Goes along with the two prong defense strategy of either "It was accidental" or "If I did do it, it was because I was provoked."

No Defense Attorney in the world would want this case to see the inside of a courtroom. All the Prosecutor has to do is play the video, take a break for the courtroom staff to clean up the jury box after the jury has thrown up from seeing the video, and then show the victim (whether she is alive or not at that point remains to be seen) or photos of the victim, followed by a medical report.

IME, it’s not that rare among homeschoolers.

At graduation from high school, my kid spoke, to a greater or lesser degree, five (English, Spanish, Latin, Mandarin, and German, plus a smattering of Lebanese and Russian).

Never took advantage of that gift.

Oh well.

As for the OP, and subsequent posts, having been in a weeks-long coma myself in my late 50s (six years ago) I’m not giving up on the victim pulling through.

Kids brains are remarkably resilient. Especially compared to mine, and I’m doing fine.

In any event, the attacker should serve at least 25 years before consideration for parole.

This is pretty accurate. Grades have been inflated and education has been dumbed down so much in the past 30 or so years that high schools have become nothing more than day care centers (especially the inner city ones). I had a graduating class of 500. One out of those 500 graduated with a 4.0, and we had some really smart kids in my class. Nowadays, in a class half that size, it is not uncommon to have two dozen kids with 4.0s. I think we all know well that the kids nowadays aren't that much smarter than we were.

https://www.riverfronttimes.co...tal-assault-42159920

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced today he will be investigating the Hazelwood School District's diversity, equity and inclusion practices after student Kaylee Gain was brutally assaulted by a fellow student near school grounds two weeks ago. Video of the assault went viral, shocking the conscience of the region and leading to charges against Gain’s juvenile assailant.

Gain is white. While her assailant is not being named as long as her case remains in the juvenile system, the video made clear that she, like most students in the Hazelwood district, is Black.

Bailey previously advocated for the assailant to be certified as an adult in the judicial system. He now says that it appears to him as though the school district "elevated political narrative above student safety."

In Bailey’s press release, he cites a "Statement of Solidarity" published by the school district in the wake of the 2020 murder of George Floyd. One bullet point from that statement outlines the district's intention to reevaluate its relationship with school resource officers.

As the RFT reported, this led to a sticking point between the school and the police departments that provided the officers. The school asked that officers working in the school complete 10 hours of DEI training. The Hazelwood, Florissant and St. Louis County police departments balked.

KSDK reported at the time that the school resource officer program was on hold at the start of the 2021-2022 school year.

According to Bailey's statement released today, the officers never came back.

What on EARTH is that article trying to say?!?

Flashlightboy... I saw the video in the OP, but it starts with the victim being flung to the ground. It doesn't show what started the fight or any interaction between the two before the video started. Did the suspect just grab her and throw her? Were blows exchanged before that point? Was it an unprovoked attack or were they going at it back and forth for a period of time?

Does any of that excuse what the suspect did? No, but having all of the facts is always better.

School resource officers are often times a joke. Every time I go to my daughter's school I see the obese female resource officer sitting in her 20x20 office playing games on her phone. This is Okaloosa county, the same sheriff's office that had two officers empty their magazines into a patrol car shooting at a handcuffed suspect because an acorn fell from a tree and made a noise.

That's quite a range of languages....Germanic-based, Latin-based, Mandarin and Lebanese Arabic; hopefully your kid has been able to travel and utilize their language skills or, find a career in diplomatic or, business work.

I don't have experience with home school'd kids but, in my interaction with kids from both public and private schools, Spanish is usually the option for second language course, the majority students squeeze-out a C, which is enough to place an order at the taqueria during lunch break. Around here, speaking more than two-languages usually means someone is speaking Cantonese and Mandarin, along with English or, couple of the East Indian dialects.

We won't know for sure until 6 months later. She will need a thorough neuropsychological evaluation at that time. Head injuries are complex and need careful therapy and evaluation. Frontal lobe injuries result in all kinds of problems.{The article referenced frontal lobe injuries}

On Friday, Gain’s family posted a hopeful update on a GoFundMe set up to raise funds to help cover the teen’s healthcare costs.

“We are happy to share that Kaylee is breathing on her own [and] remains stable,” family member Hayden Gain said. “And the best news so far is that we have been moved out of the ICU.”

As of Saturday evening, the “Kaylee Recovery Fund” has raised more than $42,000 from over 700 donations.

The teen’s mother, April Nordstrom, also shared the good news on another GoFundMe page set up to help the family pay for “intensive care treatment.”

The crazy one was German. She went from zero German to passing the AP test in just under two years.

I asked her about how her brain did this - did she think through what she was going to say before speaking. Her response was “No, I can think in German.”

It wasn’t just spoken languages, she did AP calculus in high school, and is currently learning a programming language.

Everybody complains, but too few actually get involved. It's not just the police, it's every profession out there.

When you graduate ignorant, lazy, wild children from school, you get an ignorant, lazy, and wild workforce. When you teach children that their feelings are more important than reality, you get employees who feel that their feelings are more important than reality.

No surprise.
Most LEO who've responded to school fights and incidents can comment about how schools have intentionally hid, protected or shielded bad-apple juveniles because 'they don't want to be a contributor of incarcerating children'. Regardless of crime or act, teachers will take a beating or, be willful victims to illegal activity from students, then when police become involved, they'll attempt to excuse the behavior or, refuse to cooperate. Their warped sense of virtuousness and magnanimity actually results in the juvenile being embolden and their victim having to live in fear.
