He's a living example of what not to do. I met him the year before he joined the tour, at the El Paso Sun Classic. If you call walking up to a rising star and asking him to autograph your program and being utterly ignored and walked away from with a shitty smirk "meeting." He slammed and threw his clubs, cursed, and displayed zero sportsmanship the entire round we followed in his galley. He was the very embodiment of what I'd been taught that a golfer was not. He was no gentleman. My father was embarrassed that he had taken his son to see this new phenom show him how the game was played.

He seemed like a piece of shit over 20 years ago. Keep plugging away, Tiger. Roll Eyes

It was his father that kept him in line. Once his father died, he lost all control.

At this point he's a has been, unless he proves otherwise (and I'm not holding my breath about that happening.)

The guy has millions of dollars, wants for absolutley nothing, and yet I hear that he was the stingiest tipper. You have no idea, "Tiger", how quickly word of your cheapness got around, and how very little that kind of crap did for you. And what would it have hurt you if you'd thrust a 20 dollar bill into the hand of every waiter or hotel concierge who assisted you? Clueless motherfucker, and I do mean clueless.

however, most of his issues are self-inflicted by bad decision-making

among the top were letting someone who had never played a round of golf on the professional level decide to tinker with your swing

if he had stuck with the swing he had in 2002 and continued on that path we wouldn't be talking about being ranked 876 in the world

the two people that trashed his career were Butch Harmon and Hank Haney

I always thought that if you wanted to win like you did, then swing and hit the ball like you did

but what do I know - I'm a 16 handicapper

He made all of his decisions on his own. He has nobody to blame but himself. That's both in his career and his personnel life.

Jim

I agree. Tiger trashed his career. Had nothing to do with a swing coach.

I doubt they twisted his arm. You forgot to mention Sean Foley.

Plenty of his problems are indeed self inflicted, but do you really think his bad back and other physical ailments are the result of him making poor surgeon choices? I would expect he selected the best surgeons money could buy.

As far as quitting at the height of his game, golf is a sport where your prime can last for years, and you can still make money by playing decades past your prime.

No, he was asleep from an apparent bad reaction to prescription drugs parked on the side of the road.
Not exactly public enemy number one on the loose and finally caught.
Eek

He was taking prescription pain killers and driving. Yes, he was endangering everyone. The "bad" reaction was that he was/is stupid.

I'm sure he was advised not to drive. Those sorts of medications all come with warnings. Up to this point, he had a lot of people cheering for him to make a come back. I'm not so sure anyone will care going forward.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I don't care to hear any of his excuses. Buck up and take it like a man, if that's even possible for you, "Tiger".

Got a call about an erratic driver. Saw the lady run a red light, then stop in the middle of the intersection. Drove over two curbs into a drugstore parking lot. Went the wrong way down a one way street. Ran a stop sign. By then, we were behind here and lit her up. She put her arm out the window and waived us around. When we got her out of her car, she fell flat on her face.

On Vicodin from the dentist.

Woods was driving stoned.

Actually he wasn't driving when he was picked up.

"New documents released late Tuesday afternoon by Jupiter, Florida, police reveal that both tire rims on the driver's side of the Mercedes had minor damage and the front and rear tires on that side of the vehicle were flat.

Police also observed damage to the bumper on the driver's side, white scrapes and scuffs on the rear bumper, and the passenger side rear taillight was not working, according to the documents.

Jupiter police discovered Woods early Monday on the side of the road, with his car running, its brake lights illuminated and right turn signal flashing, according to the arrest report released earlier Tuesday. He was by himself and wearing his seat belt."

There has been speculation for years about the possibility of steroid and HGH abuse by Woods. It's circumstantial, but his associations with the wrong people are well documented and the pattern fits with the many aspects of his issues.

I find it difficult to identify sympathetically with a guy who had that much talent and managed to ruin his marriage with a string of affairs. It may be a little thing, but his rep for being an extreme cheapskate also sticks in my craw; goes to what kind of person you are.

TV often presents false images of our sports heroes, making them appear bigger and better than they are in real life. For me, he seemed to appear to be a smug, conceited turdnugget. Looks like sometimes tv gets it right.
