I don't post often, but always felt you provided a calming 'voice' and words of wisdom when you posted an update or started a thread.

While I knew that you were not well, I didn't realize the extent of the medical issues. I hope when my time comes I can be as steadfast and composed as you are today.

May God bless you and keep you comfortable. You will be in my prayers.

Jim,
You have been a candle for me these yrs on the forum, shining a light towards much knowledge. I can't express how much that has meant to me.
And while you don't know me, I like to think I know a little bit about JAllen through your posts. Thank you and God bless you and your family.

JALLEN, thank you for all your thoughtful posts. Wish I could do something to help. I remember that a lung issue is involved. There are things that could help.

As a side note, a friend's husband developed stomach cancer, went the medical route, and after a few months of treatment he understood that he had about 4 months to live. He then changed to a more alternative treatment, immediately felt better, and has recovered dramatically. After losing 30 lbs, he has gained that all back and more. So, there are methods besides the regular medical route, just so you and everyone understands.

We will all get to this point sooner or later but few will have the admiration that has been expressed for you and the gift you have given us by being here and sharing yourself with us.

I always enjoy your posts and your take on things. Best of luck with your journey.

Jim, I'm sorry to read it has come to this. I always appreciated your perspectives and quotes of the day. I'm glad my wife & I got to meet you that Fourth of July concert out on Coronado, & I'll always think of you fondly as a voice of reason among the noise. I'll be praying for your strength & peace as you face this time in your life with courage. You've made an impact on SIGforum, & me personally which can't be measured. I thank you.

JALLEN, I too am shocked and surprised at this news. I've always looked forward to your stellar assessments, thought provoking posts and in general most all of your posts. It will be a different forum without your presence. Prayers for you and your family as you travel down this road in your life.

JAllen, I salute you and feel fortunate to have been witness to the glee and precision with which you have addressed so many issues. I especially like that you played tuba.

Thanks for the memories.

JALLEN,

The first thing that immediately came to mind on reading the thread title was “Damn!” You have been a font of knowledge, but more importantly an example of how one can think things through and try to understand the whole picture. Thank you for all your contributions and for your shining example. You will be very sorely missed Sir!

May your path forward be as smooth as possible and when your time comes may God take you and keep you close.

Jim,

I've read with increasing sorrow as you've relayed the progression of your disease, while at the same time applauding the good humor you've maintained in the face of it. You are one of the defining personalities in this forum. Your words cast the shadow of a giant soul, no matter the frailties of your body. God bless you as you have blessed others. I pray that you will find comfort and joy in the time that you have left here.
