She's a joke. In more "normal" times she would've never been elected. But these aren't normal times and she's a product of namby-pamby land. I just hope she flames out in fairly short order.

Unfortunately, we don't live in "normal" times
(does anyone ever really live in "normal times"?),
I don't think that she's going to flame out anytime soon.
Seriously, I believe that when she hits the eligible age limit to run for President, she's going to be a big problem.
Couple of elections away, but she's a darling of the left and the media, unless she gets caught doing something so totally inexcusable that the left actually tears her apart.....

Funny as hell watching her look around like a 3rd grader during the SOTU to see if she was supposed to stand or sit or clap or smirk, such a child. What does dear Nancy want me to do???

I don’t know. If she doesn’t moderate her behavior with time and keeps pushing her love of socialism, her only base will be the loser hipsters. She is a useful idiot, a lightning rod for the left.

You noticed that, too Smile

At one point the rest of the women in white were standing and applauding, she looks around, I murmured "Engage brain," you see the gears turn and she stands up.

AOC's quote about "flying without a pilot" could be a fitting meme to describe her, going forward.

Peggy Noonan says Ocasio-Cortez has ‘rare bad night,’ freshman rep responds

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez responded to criticism from a top columnist on Tuesday that she had a "rare bad night" during President Trump's State of the Union speech.

Peggy Noonan, the Wall Street Journal columnist, tweeted that the 29-year-old Democrat looked "sullen, teenaged and at a loss" during a night where the freshman rep kept mostly silent and refused to applaud president Trump's remarks as he touted his administration's low unemployment numbers and efforts to cure AIDS and stop sex traffickers.

Ocasio-Cortez - a frequent critic of Trump - took to Twitter to defend herself.

"Why should I be “spirited and warm” for this embarrassment of a #SOTU? Tonight was an unsettling night for our country. The president failed to offer any plan, any vision at all, for our future. We’re flying without a pilot. And I‘m not here to comfort anyone about that fact," she wrote.

Ocasio-Cortez did clap when Trump recognized the number of women in Congress.

Trump's appeal for unity is unlikely to win over many of his Democratic critics in Congress. Before Trump even delivered his speech, California Sen. Kamala Harris, a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, said, "We will hear insincere appeals to unity."

Also in the audience were several other Democrats running to challenge Trump in 2020, including Cory Booker of New Jersey, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Kirsten Gillibrand of New York.

Noonan tweeted, "This has been a deeply adept speech in terms of policy. He cut to the muscle on legal and illegal immigration, on abortion and infanticide, on foreign wars. His vow on socialism will be remembered. Great heroes in the balcony, a real American panoply."

Really? She's now the best known member of the House other than Pelosi, and actually maybe better known than Pelosi. She's the darling of the left wing of the Democratic party (probably overtaking Bernie Sanders.) Unfortunately for her, neither NYS Senator is likely leave office any time in the near future, or she's be a shoe in to replace them.

For a <30 YO, who's political career started less than a year ago, she's done pretty well.

Yep.
1. When it comes to social media, she 'gets it', and uses it to her advantage.
2. None of her stupid comments will ever matter to her followers. They don't care!
3. For the MSM, she's pure gold. They can't keep their cameras away from her.
4. For the hard-core socialist leftists, she's an angel. She is moving the conversation hard left.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Like Rush said she will be dropped when her usefulness is done.
She is no visionary of any party> Dem, Socialist or otherwise.
Just a cutesy little girl who has a little wind under her sails.
Not going to sustain, trust me.

She's an absolute testament to what a corrupt and complicit media establishment can create out of nothing. And at her core, she 'is' nothing. As others have noted here, she's useful to the leftist movement at the moment, but that too can (and likely will) change at some point. When that day arrives, we'll all see just how quickly that same media establishment can make someone a complete nobody. Stay tuned...

She's very mediagenic, which nowadays is all it takes (think Obama.) And she's using the media every bit as much as they're using her.

The mere fact that we (a forum with a very conservative base) is running a pushing 50 page discussion of her is a testament to her success so far. She's driving the dialog on a national basis. We may not like that fact or what she's saying, but it's very much the truth.

I disagree the notion that 'dialog' is the event we are observing here. She is making highly visible statements of her particular opinions, celebrated by her side of the divide, and ridiculed by quoting examples of her own behavior by her critics.

I don't see substantial 'discussion' of her opinions.

On the other hand, would agree if by 'dialog' we mean 'discussion of her role' let alone her actual presence in current events is the 'dialog'.

Indeed. If she really had any smarts, political or otherwise, she'd have looked at what the Dems did to Kavanaugh's accusers and figured it out.

Then again...

Given recent history, I think you're over-estimating New York voters, BH. Their recent record: HRC (carpetbagger), Bloomberg (Democrat that ran as a Republican so he wouldn't have to face primary challengers), de Blasio, Cuomo, Gillibrand. A state whose elected politicians have vowed to out-California California.

I'd be wary of placing any bets.

I think she could get elected more easily the Gillibrand, and Gillibrand did get elected. If She or Schumer ever moved on (and the likely won't), AOC would the the front runner to replace them (at the moment. We'll she how she's playing in a few years.)

Politics is all about branding, and in the Blue part of the country, she's doing well with that.

You're talking about New York, Balze. She doesn't have to win the entire state, just New York City.

Winner.

Perfect example is Arizona Socialist and loony bi sexual Kyrsten Sinema who was slickly branded to look and act on TV ads like a Librarian.

Dems can do the same with AOC if she can keep her mouth shut.
