I performed installation and maintenance on phone systems and voice mail systems for the US Forestry Service and for Verizon. During those 12 years I went to multiple areas of most of the 33 states I have visited and have had the opportunity to spend a week sometimes more at a time in them. Many states a few times a year due to weather damage at the Forestry sites.

I think I’m missing 8, but as most of my travel was for work and some of that was on tour busses, I’m not sure about OR, NM and ME. I might have been to one or even all of them at some point.

I don’t count driving through as visiting, nor do I count a layover at an airport. If I spent the night at a hotel or did work in the state I count that as a visit.

I've done two cross-country drives stopping at various points of interests and targeting Diners, Drive In, and Dives locations.

I've not gone to North Dakota or South Dakota as we were traveling October / November and wanted to avoid snow. We've also not been to Alaska yet.

So 50 states minus 3 equals 47.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Well consider this an official invitation. I’d be happy to buy you dinner, drinks, crawfish, whatever.

Unfortunately my ability to travel is severely limited these days. But my sincere thanks. Smile

Despite giving up flying nearly 30 years ago, I've driven in/through/around all but Hawaii & a couple NE states. Most I liked the journey. Some I'd pay to not have to drive thru again.

My younger #2 son, has around 36 countries to his count. Whether tourist, pilgrim, student, or as a Medical Care team RN volunteer. He's got some great stories.

I counted once, and I am in the middle or high thirties. I have missed Florida, Vermont, some of the midwest (Iowa, Indiana, Michigan), mountain west (Dakotas, Montana, Idaho), Alaska, and Hawaii.

I have lived in 6 states, some of those more than once. I have lived the vast majority of my life in Texas, and was born here.
