Taking the wifes Cadillac to the dealer on Monday. 6qt oil change with GM Dexos oil is $68. Includes a car wash. Another $25 to rotate the tires, haven't decided on that yet. The dealer closest to me was $88 and no car wash.

I'll pay 25 bucks to rotate the tires . Saves me a lot of time . Sometimes my dealer throws it into the deal . Not always though .

Using Mobil 1 oil and filters, I’m between $50-60 dollars in supplies before any labor cost. I change the oil in 3 of 4 cars/trucks in my home. I may start on the 4th, but it requires the removal of large cover below the engine compartment that is more easily accomplished with a lift. Parts to complete an oil change are closer to $100 (8qts special oil) and with labor I’m about +/- $200. The other 3 cars take approximately 30 minutes taking my sweet ass time. The fourth will probably take closer to an hour. I actually enjoy doing it myself and know that it is done properly. To answer your question $80-90 dollars for full synthetic. The amount of oil required is 5.5 - 8 qts in my vehicles. The recommended intervals are 10k - 15k. While we used to do it every 3k miles, I have moved to every 5k miles which is probably still more frequent than necessary. _________________________ "An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile - hoping it will eat him last” - Winston Churchil

'06 Ram (Diesel) $95 * 12 quarts Mobil 1 5W40 * Either a Mopar or Mobil 1 Oil Filter '12 Camry $40 * 6.4 quarts Mobil 1 0W-20 * Toyota Oil cartridge '91 Miata $25 * 3.4 quarts Mobil 1 5W-30 * Napa filter I stopped letting the local guys change oil in my vehicles more than 10 years ago when they kept screwing it up (forgetting to grease fittings, putting in an extra 2 quarts of oil, etc.) plus back then the oil changes in the pickup were over $150. I can't begin to imagine what they'd want today. I don't put too many miles on anymore so they get changed once a year. I buy the Toyota filters from Amazon 5 at a time, the other's I get locally. Typically I'll order oil online for pickup from Fleet Farm and pick it up the next morning. Last year I ordered a valve cover gasket from a Mazda dealer, since then they've been sending me "special" coupons for a "discounted" $90 oil change. Synthetic was extra .

I thought the whole point of synthetic oil was that it was a better lubrication, didn’t break down nearly as fast and lasted much longer than regular oil? My Mazda oil change intervals per the manual are 7,500 miles. Changing synthetic at 3,000 or even 5,000 miles seems crazy to me

Cheap insurance. If I go a little over it’s no big deal. In the overall ownership of the vehicles a little extra $$ on oil isn’t a big deal. I’ll caveat that 2 of the 4 vehicles are high performance turbo/twin turbo motors so pinching pennies was never a goal of ownership. _________________________ "An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile - hoping it will eat him last” - Winston Churchil
