Charles Chips used to come in a tin.
They were the best.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Miss Vickies are good, they have them at a couple of the Sub shops here. Charles Chips were the bomb when I was a kid.

Don't know anything about Gibbles,

Just down the street from our apartment in Barcelona, there were several small hole-in-the-wall mom & pop shops next to each other.

I could walk down there and drop off my shirts to be laundered, grab a loaf of fresh bread, have an anchovy sandwich with a glass of Rioja wine, and pick up a bag of fresh chips right out of the kettle, munching on them minutes after they were made. Absolutely the best potato chips I have ever had.

Member Minnow steered me to UTZ Sourdough Dipping Daisies. Damned good, they are. Not available in my local grocery stores so I order them directly from UTZ.

Obviously Kirkland's Kettle brand with Himalayan Sea Salt wasn't invited to your taste test. Great taste AND great value. Wink

Those are a close second Max. A bit greasy though.
Having said that after a bag I don't buy another for quite a while. Several months.

The Miss Vickie's dill pickle are pretty good. Working on a bag of those now for lunch today, Yummmm.

For me as a kid growing up, it was Wise Potato Chips.

Then later in life it was Charlies Chips in the tin can.

^^^ Pretty darn good. Just wish they hadn't closed their Cape Cod plant...or so I heard.

ETA, yep, they closed that plant in April of 2026.

I'll play.

Husmans out of Cincinnati, Oh

Seyferts out of Fort Wayne, In

Sadly, both brands were acquired by larger companies and subsequently ceased operations.

"Regional" market(s) sales did them in. RIP.

Edited to add. Uncle Rays Potato Chips, paired with Shiner Bock...yes, I am fat, happy and stupid. YMMV. Big Grin
