I would suggest you find a helmet that fits you and is comfortable that you can wear all day long. Keep the clear visor and then a pair of sunglasses or prescription sunglasses if you need them or whatever.

Almost every helmet, especially the high-end ones like you’re looking at, will have grooves or tracks in the padding for glasses to slip in. I use sunglasses with the straight (non-curved) earpieces so there’s no pressure behind the ears. YMMV

I love the visor part I should say, and the ventilation.

Warning: channeling Cliff Clavin post ahead. Razz

A helmet must fit snugly in both directions (front to back and side to side) with no rocking. If it rocks on your head with just your hands, imagine what it will do in a crash. This might be where the apocryphal stories about helmets breaking necks comes from. It can't fit too tightly, with pressure points anywhere, either. They will make you miserable, and will not "break in." Because a helmet is a deeply personal thing regarding fit, they should not be purchased online or otherwise unseen.

We’ve officially gotten to the point of preaching, even with the caveat

Not sure about Shoei helmet shapes but Arai has 3 helmet shapes--Round Oval, Intermediate Oval and the Long Oval. That may be the cause of your headache with Shoei.
Arai fit chart for reference.

Clear shield for me with sunglasses.

Perhaps a stupid question, but are you attempting visor swaps with the helmet on or off? If on, I have no tips.

If off, after the second one third swap on my rf1400 it became pretty quick. Biggest ah ha moment was learning the angle to align at (basically full open) and pulling forward the little tab.

At this point, it is not unlike swapping from clear to sunglasses using a glasses case.

I'm using the helmet bag for the spare visor until I find one of the visor bags linked earlier.

Something you might not have considered yet is a Pinlock insert.

Get a clear pinlock visor with a tinted pinlock insert. Then just take it out when it gets dark, or swap in a clear pinlock.

Dual purpose. No fog and light attenuation.

They work beautifully, and might be easier to store than a rounded rigid face shield.

Definitely off. I’ll find the same type set up to carry a spare in my backpack

If you get to the point of adding comms, I successfully added the Carson packtalk black with the larger speakers. Used the clamp mount.

Enjoy your RF1400, I love mine. What color did you get?

edited to add
My RF1400 with cardo comms:

Understanding the tab to move forward while changing visors made all the difference for me. See red arrow:. (move it forward)

Haven't ordered it yet. Only tried it on in the store.

I'm looking for as bright a helmet as possible. I usually go with orange accessories but I'll see if they got pink or something.

The yellow isn't the same matte type finish the other solid colors are. That photo was taken in the dark morning hours under parking lot lights without a flash. It isn't really a canary or construction yellow. I like it and it works with my blue bike

Sunglasses?
Two helmets?

I'd suggest going with a helmet that fits you nice and snug with no pressure points because if it's uncomfortable nothing else matters much. My go to helmet for most riding over the years has been various Arai's and I buy them with all three shields, light tint, clear and dark tint. For most riding I just use the light tint but when riding say west straight across Kansas in the afternoon it sure is nice with a full dark shield. One nice thing about Arai is the shields can be changed literally in 15 seconds.

No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Since a solid orange isn’t offered I think that yellow might be my next choice. Might looks at painting one orange but that can wait.

I just ordered a Sena modular, that one seemed to fit me the best while wearing my glasses.

My permanent go-to is Arai as well, due to a head-shape that requires their Long Oval shape to accommodate my head and not set off fiery hot spots on my forehead. Only problem with Arai is that due to their design (and/or design philosophy) they don't include the internal flip-down sun shield as with some other brands. I have a light tint outer shield on my Signet-X (was a Signet-Q), and often combine with sunglasses on particularly sunny days. I have the original clear shield that came with my helmet, but don't really have a practical way to carry it to switch it out. I'm going to pick up a tail bag in a month or two, but even there I'll likely leave the clear shield at home...just don't ride enough at night -- really not much at all -- to make it worth the effort.

I bought white and once it gets too hot to ride I'm going to get it vinyl wrapped. Since it's a safety device, I don't like the idea of scuffing the helmet as prep for painting it.

Let me rephrase. I wont bother with a modular that has a weak point such as a hinge.

Better than a half mask but not as good as a full face.

Vinyl wrap is a good idea as well. Could probably also have it hydro dipped.

The good modulars perform better than many full-faces in testing. I doubt that will convince anyone but they do. Bring money, though.
