| If you go with the floating vinyl floor, make sure to spend the money ($.70 a sq foot) and go with the very best underlayment. It makes a HUGE difference in noise when walking on it, shifting, and feel under your feet and durability of the floor. It can crack, but not easily. Porcelain is pretty tough stuff. My kids have dropped any number of heavy objects on it to no effect.
