I've had a couple drinks occasionally after bad days, but I haven't been drunk since probably around 1976.
I despise the feeling of being drunk.

The last time I can think of purposely getting drunk because I was bothered by something was circa 1994.

I have some sort of adult beverage maybe two or three times a month, usually just one, rarely two.

Probably 25 or 30 years since the last time I was drunk, with one exception maybe six or eight years ago, and on that occasion I had the good sense to hand the car keys to my wife.

I'll admit I overdid it a couple of years ago after a really good day.

But after a really bad day, it seems drinking is rarely a solution.

1986 for me. No alcohol at all since about '96.

And, back in '86, it wasn't because of a bad day, never had a drink because of something like that.

Hell yeah, got a problem, get drunk at it - that will solve it for sure. Wink

Last alcohol for me was in Feb 1997.

I get drunk on rare occasion but I don’t drink because I have had a bad day ever. I drink because I am enjoying a day with family or friends. It’s not pain relief. Or I should say, I don’t think it should be.

I can tell you for a fact 6 years ago on my 50th birthday I was plastered. My buddy kept following me around with a bottle of Fireball. I don’t even like looking at that stuff now.

Well, mine was over a girl and I was 19 years old, so...

But, yeah, it didn't help. I did get over the girl, though.

As far as I knew, that was what you were supposed to do when you're broken-hearted- get drunk. Lesson learned.

Same here. I've gotten drunk while partying with friends and celebrating one thing or another, but don't think I've ever gotten drunk due to a shitty day. I enjoy an occasional drink but I really don't like being drunk (and hung over after).

August 2005. My Dad and brother and I were scheduled for a guided fishing trip to Alaska. Then I was diagnosed with cancer and spent Labor Day weekend in the hospital being cut on. They left for Alaska a few days later, without me. A few days before I went into the hospital we met to talk about the trip. I got pretty seriously hammered. That was the only time I ever got drunk because of a bad day though.

Only times I got “drunk” was in my early 20’s being new to alcohol and partying.

Today, I will have a drink after a hard day or for a day of celebration, but neither have any intent or result in getting drunk. I also will only have a drink at home. No slight drinking and driving at all as it is not worth the risk and my job. I am too old for “getting drunk” and I have to be responsible the next morning.
