when I was in the grocery biz we had meetings, at least once or twice a year that meant overnight travel,

getting lit was part of the job,

bad day usually means I drink less

Intentionally because of a "shitty" day, early 80s. Maybe around 1982.

now "just happened" because I was having a good time anyway? Much sooner in the past. Razz

I’ve never been super drunk. But never because of a bad day.

2003 when I got back from being deployed and Captain Masted (art 15 for you land lubbers) which I actually won…was just glad to be home, new house and wife.

I don’t usually get past two drinks before I stop. I don’t like not being in control.

I admit to a nice double bourbon after a hard day, but I don't recall getting "drunk" because of a bad day.

I can’t remember the last time I was drunk, and it definitely wasn’t intentional.

I do drink here and there but I learned long ago not to drink due to stress, anger, etc. Not only does it not make things better, for me it usually made them worse.

I actually never did due to having bad day. Usually it was the opposite and a LONG time ago.

I could probably count the times I've been really drunk on one hand...and I'm 76 years old. Any of those times would have been in my early 20's.

I don't like to be around drunks.

Drinking to get inebriated because of something totally unrelated never crossed my mind.

Getting drunk , to me, was an undesired side effect.

Nothing wonderful ever came of my having three too many.

“Drunk” seems like an odd word to me. Where I grew up we referred to it as “Getting Hammered”.

To answer the OP’s question:

I don’t know that I’ve ever drank with the specific purpose of getting drunk/hammered. There are times I’ll have a little more bourbon or scotch than I should (to prevent me from driving) but it’s been many years since I’ve been completely gone.

Growing up, my grandparents had this sign over their basement bar. It always made me laugh because my grandpa hardly touched the stuff and my gramma would have the very occasion martini.

When we drink we get drunk
When we get drunk we go to sleep
When we go to sleep we commit no sin
When we commit no sin we go to heaven …

So let’s all get drunk and go to heaven!

I have never intentionally got drunk, not that it hasn't happened but not on purpose. Might be from having a father with problems at times. Of course his being a funeral director was not an easy career path.

I actually have never gotten drunk out of sadness or anger. It’s more of a fun celebratory thing for me so needless to say I drink more often than I should. Last time I was really down, I had the alcohol at home but wanted no part of it. I guess I deal with being down differently.
