The Outofair bags and roll that I've been using seem more robust. I've been using them for about a year.

Yes sir ... pretty damn close. OutofAir = 13200 square inches Costco = 18208 square inches 13200 x 1.40 = 18480 Square inches I will go with Costco Kirkland for the win. Next I will do a quality comparison.

Interested to see how they compare Dino....Costco brand usually stacks up pretty well, they're no doubt made by a major vac bag producer.

We bought our first and only Foodsaver in 1998, and it still works as it should, we use it maybe a dozen times a week. Most of the time, we seal the original packaging bag of the food product (potato chips, crackers, spices, cheese, etc.) "I’m not going to read Time Magazine, I’m not going to read Newsweek, I’m not going to read any of these magazines; I mean, because they have too much to lose by printing the truth"- Bob Dylan, 1965

I still have an old one from back then too that is still working ... and have also sealed other products as you have. The only reason for having a newer one is that it is very quiet and does not disturb others who are working from home here in the house.

I have not bought the FoodSaver bags for years, I buy Amazon bags. I find that I need to do a double seal (at the same location) To make sure the bags are sealed.

The OutofAir bags arrived today ... pretty darn fast free 2-day shipping. The FoodSaver bags say they are 11.5 mils embossed side and 3 mils smooth side. The OutofAir say they are 11.5 mils embossed and 4 mils smooth. The Costco Kirkland bags do not say and I have yet to find any information on line regarding thickness. Both the FoodSaver and Costco bags look very similar and feel the same ... my guess is the Costco bags are made by FoodSaver, but I do not know that for a fact. The OutofAir bags definitely have a thicker feel on the smooth side, and the embossed side looks and feels just like the FoodSaver and Costco bags. Will update when I have a chance to use all three bags.

Update ... today sealed up some flanken ribs with the Costco and OutofAir bags. The Costco bags sealed up no different than the FoodSaver. I always double seal my bags, and sometimes triple seal. The OutofAir bags are outstanding, something I can trust in the freezer for one, two, three years or more.

I also bought the out of air bags based on the recommendations but they will not work with my foodsaver. I cannot pull any air out of the bags. My Amazon bags work fine. I have no clue what’s going on with the bags. The machine just runs without removing any air.

I'm an OutOfAir fan as well for my Nesco VS-12. I order direct from the manufacturer. ![]() Certifiable member of the gun toting, septuagenarian, bucket list workin', crazed retiree, bald is beautiful club! USN (RET), COTEP #192

I purchased a Vacmaster Duo 550 probably some eight years ago. It's a chamber vac plus a suction vac. I've used the suction vac maybe 4 times in that span. The chamber vac is the way to go. Chamber vac bags are pennies compared to the FS rolls. Plus in the chamber vac you can seal liquids as it doesn't suck liquid into the seal area. I buy my bags from Vacuum Sealers Unlimited good prices and great service. They sell rolls for the FS types of sealers as well. If your FS machine is getting worn out I would definetly look at a chamber vac. My only regret is I shouldn't have purchased the dual function machine and went with the next bigger chamber only vac. Vacmaster stuff is built like tanks. The chances of me wearing this one out and upgrading aren't good as this one just keeps running and I use it a lot. This is odd. My Food Saver machine works great with the OutOfAir rolls. Could your rubber seals (door)be needing a replacement? When my seals(which are super cheap to purchase) started going bad, the machine would run and run and not pull a satisfactory vacuum. Just a thought.

Thank you Very little ![]() |
On my second FoodSaver, the first one's sealing rod took a dump, stopped sealing bags, the second one works but it's not good for Sous Vide, the seals don't hold worth crap and I've had a few meals ruined by water intrusion.
