Wow. That's a person with a vision.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

It is a blessing to have a son one can be proud of. And as a parent it's nice to know you did something right. The world can use more good people.

Congrats!

Lone Soldier is an interesting program, only open to those with no immediate family in Israel.

Fun fact, the US and Russia are the two largest sources of recruits, roughly 500 a year. All the best to your son, it’s quite a step to serve in another country’s armed forces.

I would love to go there, so rich in history. Hes going to have a great time outside of being in the army.

Thanks for all the support and well-wishing. Elias actually has family in Israel, an Aunt and Uncle (from the States) and 3 cousins, all of whom already served in the IDF. So, it is nice having family in-country.

I've not been to Israel since 2006 when my kids were in 1st and 2nd grade. I'm looking forward to going back this summer.
