I love to hunt and fish and I love to shoot, also, although I don't actually do a ton of shooting. I hung deer, doves, ducks, quail, and other small game.

I've played the drums since I was 10 and still regularly play with a band and at church. I also sing.

I play golf a few times a year and I'm still pretty decent for someone who doesn't play more.

I like to build things around the house and do minor woodworking.

And I've just begun reloading for high powered rifles.

I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log.

In no particular order:

Shooting

Hunting (primarily hogs, but occasionally deer or ducks)

Reading

Video games

Military history, especially early-to-mid 20th century (slightly pre-WW1 through slightly post-WW2)

Historical firearms research and collecting

Cooking, grilling, and smoking

Tabletop RPGs (e.g. Dungeons & Dragons, and the like)

Hiking with my dog

I also dabble in very casual Brazilian-jiu-jitsu-focused martial arts, more to keep my defensive tactics skills up to speed than any real interest in serious martial arts. I don't compete, test for colored belts, go to class weekly, wear a gi, chop boards, bow to senseis, or any of that. Just practicing real-world compliance, control, grappling, and defense techniques in a BJJ gym for a few hours once or twice a month with other LEOs while getting tips from more experienced BJJ teachers and defensive tactics instructors.

These are things I enjoy, outside of being retired and lazy:

Rock collecting, tumble polishing them
Photography
Hiking, though I've slowed down
4 Wheeling with my Rubicon - gets me places to take photos
Custom Knives - I've been collecting, adjusting my collection for 32 years
Shooting, still get out to the range, bought more guns last year than at any time

We need to get through 2020, being in a high risk group has really kept us near home.

Travel. Pre-COVID, I traveled a lot, and hope to resume when normality is restored. My ability to make long auto trips alone is waning (I'll be 83 in 9 days), but I can still do managed tours.

Photography. I take a lot of photos while traveling, and when home process and post them to Flickr. I also post subsets of those photos to a site called Ugly Hedgehog.

Choral singing. I've been singing in choirs since I was 9 years old, and still enjoy doing so.

Handbell ringing. I began ringing handbells back in the 1980s and am currently a member of 2 handbell choirs (both on COVID hiatus). It's fun.

Genealogy. I have become involved with genealogy in recent years and currently manage a family tree with about 20,000 persons in it.

Pistol shooting. Once one of my major hobbies, I've done very little pistol shooting recently. I do miss it, but I no longer have any local friends to participate with and it's not as much fun alone.

Shooting and reloading/casting.

Garden/backyard-sized live steam trains.

Messing about with photography.

That kind of thing.

Everything else, like collecting airplanes, cars, works of art, houses and so on is just too expensive, and living in an expensive country doesn't help.

Shooting and collecting old military surplus rifles.
Lots of reloading.
Collecting WWII era US Army equipment, uniforms, accouterments.
USPSA.
Watches.
I work out but, don’t consider it a hobby, more as a requirement for my work and just part of living life.

Though I haven’t done it in several years, I enjoyed brewing beer. I’ve collected Transformers (the toys) since their release in the early 80s. I play video games, just not nearly as frequently in the last couple years. Not necessarily a hobby but I’ve been into bodybuilding/weight training since 1990. Currently setting up a workshop to try my hand at woodworking. Then there’s the guns/shooting.

My hobbies are:

  • Motorcycle riding. I have ridden motorcycles for 40 years starting when I was 8 years old. I rode dirt bikes and then street bikes. At 30 I started racing motocross, but after too many wrecks and surgeries I sold that bike and now ride a Honda Goldwing.
  • I used to fish a lot, but no longer do.
  • Vegetable gardening.
  • Shooting guns.
  • Reloading ammo.
  • Fixing things around the house.
  • Video games.
  • Cooking.
  • Photography.

I used to brew beer a lot! Lots of equipment and a ton of grolsch bottles. I no longer had time to brew so I recently sold all of my stuff, but I sure loved the beer I made!

What’s the advantage of posting your photos on Ugly Hedgehog when they’re already on Flickr?

I love hobbies! The list of things Ive dabbled in would be massive.

Core hobbies are shooting and self-defense, fitness, home brewing, cooking/smoking, camping.

Intend on getting back into flying/general aviation again after 20 years.

Started collecting (and using MS Excel to manage) Air Force uniform patches. The collection grew to just over 2,500 when the Air Force stopped the patch game. And, being retired AF, not close to an AF base, just allowing the collection to rest.

Spending time with my love -- Mrs. Tinyman.

Shooting. And, these not in any specific order.
