I just wanted to let you know, we re all counting on you.
The hell I don't! LISTEN, KID! I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I'm out there busting my buns every night! Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes!

2 viggens' might be 25% of the worlds airworthy inventory of those early Rutan, very complex homebuilts. I have about 5 hours in one, odd flying airplane. The one below is Burt's prototype and Mrs Rutan #1

Rutan's Viggen has an aspect ratio of less than 3, and negative dihedral effect ...meaning you need to use the same rudder as the bank to raise the wing!!! I think this is called negative roll stability. Also, with the high thrust C/L, adding power drives the nose lower, removing power raises the nose. Rejected take off is a surprise as the nose rotates when power is brought back.
Like all the EZ variants, the planes will tip over backwards without the pilot as the pilot sits well forward of the CG. EZ's however, have a retractable nose gear only, so they park on their nose (nose dragger). The Viggen, however, has full retracts so the plane parks like this :-)
Fun plane to fly, just different. I flew N27MS belonging to Mike and Sally Melvill before they donated it to the Museum of Flight in Seattle. This message has been edited. Last edited by: aileron,
