I am doing now what I should have done last year at this time, which is to inform posting members that for all purposes, the Super Bowl will not exist. We will not be discussing it beforehand (beyond the necessity of this thread), we will not be discussing it immediately leading up to the game, or during the game, nor will we be discussing it after the game, and this includes but is not limited to the teams, what the teams do or don't do, the score, the TV commercials, half-time show, the performers in the halftime show, none of it. No news articles relating to all the aforementioned should be posted in the forum. It will be as if this event has never existed.

Despite the fact that the NFL is filled with 85 IQ criminals who would be working as night club bouncers or car wash attendants and who openly despise the United States and its citizens, I allow discussion of this silly game and its players throughout the year, but the fanaticism, the outright obsession with the Super Bowl as the defining event of all human achievement- I find this disgusting. They hate us, they use us, our tax dollars build their fucking stadiums, and people still flock to this shit. I can't do anything about that, but I don't have to listen to that shit in this forum.

Some of you may think that I like it this way, but I do not. I used to love seeing all the great commercials, and despite the fact that I have no interest in football, it used to be fun to have Super Bowl parties but now, it's just a bunch of PC virtue-signalling phony-ass bullshit, and stupid racist thugs who hate us, and corporations twisting themselves into pretzels to show how "woke" they are.

A "black national anthem"??? They are SPITTING on you. They are spitting on the flag and on the Constitution. They are shameless racists and as far as I'm concerned, all the players, the coaches, the staff, the NFL Commission can disappear off the face of the Earth. The world is worse with their shit in it, and I don't want to hear about any of it.

For those of you who have a life-long love of the game and have witnessed the things I've described, you have my sincere apology. I am sorry you find yourselves in a position where what once was a perfectly fine hobby has turned into the utter obscenity we now see. But, this does not change my desire for this forum to remain free from any acknowledgement that this event even exists, beyond the necessity of this thread.

If you want to object to this or bitch to me about my decision, this is the thread to do it in. I won't deny you the privilege of speaking your piece.

Other than it being on in the background of a 'SB party' I don't think I've genuinely ever really watched a SB, for the football.
I grew up watching cars go in circles (F1 & sportscar racing) & didn't really [and somewhat still don't] know how football works beyond the basics.

Another thank you. It used to be part of our culture, but in a lot of ways, whatever that culture was is gone now. The Super Bowl is just a reminder that some people want to throw all of it away, and that some people are fine with that.

OK, no problem.

As an aside:
The St. Louis County Republican Central Committee is hosting a Super Bowl Party, as a fund raiser for the office.
I told the Chairman this was a bad idea...
I bet there aren't many attendees.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

As a former NFL fan and one who hosted a number of Super Bowl parties in the 1980s, I wholeheartedly support this message. The NFL (and other U.S. based professional sports) have become truly awful in all aspects and can go fuck themselves.

It tell everyone who asks who I’m rooting for that I haven’t watched an NFL game since Kaepernick took a knee, so you’ll get no dissenting argument from me.

The truth is I’ve watched a few games with my 84 year old father, because.

The NFL is dead to me. There’s nothing they can do to get my attention anymore. Kneeling, and my disgust for it, was the last second of my life they occupied.

Thank you, para.

Being in a suburb of Detroit one can only imagine how saturated local TV was with the possibility the Lions might make the SB. During the nightly "news" they couldn't limit sports coverage to the sports segment. Oh no. The Lions and their SB possibility trumped everything. Even the regular "BREAKING NEWS" of Yet Another Shooting In Detroit.

I hate to say it, but, when the Lions were defeated (last week?) my wife and I were happy.

Maybe we can get a ban on the mention of Taylor Swift, Swifties, and every fracking thing related to her, too?

I mean, she's hawt and all. And I suppose if you like her music, well, you like her music. Fine. But this idol worship has gotten entirely out-of-hand.

And, before anybody brings up The Beatles: Yes, I thought it was over the top back then, too. Ditto for Elvis before them.
