Growing up in Dayton, Ohio it was a short hop to Crosley Field for the Reds. All that changed when Riverfront was built. The cost to attend Reds or Bengals games increased to the point where I no longer attended. I now no longer support or watch any organized sports at any level. Too much hype, too much thuggery, too much woke and too much money. And now nearly unlimited online gambling.
No Super Bowl posts? Thats completely fine with me!

THIS.

I am OUT with regard to professional sports of all ilks and have been since within about 18 months of the 'knee' bullshit.

Whenever one of these fine specimens make the news, get caught with pounds of blow, beat their girlfriends senseless, or run over somebody during their DWI incident, I have to look them up to see just who TF they are cuz I don't know any names anymore.

Fuck them all and the horses they rode in on.

I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. -Ecclesiastes 9:11

...But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by Him shall glory, but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped. - Psalm 63:11 [excerpted]

Yup, everything said above I can’t disagree with. Alas, I enjoy watching football the game. I enjoy movies and such as well although I know Hollywood is all those things as well. Maybe slightly less criminal potential but still bad. So, I will watch the game and keep it to myself. I respect the policy. It is the correct one. I gave up football watching for 4 years but I slowly got interested again. It’s poison but it’s a tempting poison. I totally get those of you who hate watching sportsing.

No complaints here! We’re going to the Phoenix Zoo with the grandkids Sunday anyway. They’re all God-fearing, America-loving little Patriots like their parents and grandparents — they’re the people I want to spend my time with!

Besides, I haven’t really followed football in many years —- Don Shula was the coach of the Miami Dolphins if that gives you an idea. Eek

A "black national anthem"??? They are SPITTING on you. They are spitting on the flag and on the Constitution. They are shameless racists and as far as I'm concerned, all the players, the coaches, the staff, the NFL Commission can disappear off the face of the Earth. The world is worse with their shit in it, and I don't want to hear about any of it.

Well put and my sentiments exactly!

My wife is a football fan, not rabid but a fan, so about a week ago I asked her what day the super bowl was on. It kind of surprised me when she said" What do you care? All you do is use football as an excuse to sleep and read for the whole season."
I didn't think she'd noticed.

So I'm OK with not posting during.

Your house, your rules, as it should be.

But where I would part with you is the blanket condemnation of individuals, companies, organizations and an entire industry. I have met some players and staff who are fine human beings. Likewise, I am certain there are thugs and scum in the NFL, just like there are in every company, organization and industry.

I’ve never been much of a football fan, but we will be watching the Super Bowl as my wife is a fan, one of the four teams she follows is in it and I see no reason to rain on her parade (she is very cognizant of all the crap that goes on in and around the NFL, more so than I am).

I do like watching the Super Bowl commercials. I probably won’t watch the halftime show, and Taylor Swift is at best an ok singer & performer.
