Whatever your sport, will you watch it if there is no one in attendance?
Part of the reason I watch baseball games is because I have been to baseball games. I have sat behind the dugout in Great American Ballpark. I have sat by the bullpen in Tropicana Field and my children received balls from the players. When I watch I can relate to being there, and I wish I was there, and I dream of the day of being there again.
And if I turn on something that is not near and dear to my heart, the fans and other peripheral activities increase the enjoyment. Let's take college football; It's always nice to see a smiling cheerleader on TV. It's awesome to see the precision of a good marching band. I always cringe when a players runs in a photographer with a $5K lens. Now that I am that age, I appreciate the shot of the tense parents in the stands. All of those things add to the experience, at least for me.
I am sure when sports come back, I will watch some. But I question how long I will hang in there if the fan moratorium stays in place for long.

I don't think, from a TV viewer perspective, it's going to make any appreciable difference in the TV coverage & may partially improve it as there won't be any cuts for crowd reactions & missing on track action.
As a baseball fan, I miss the sport, the game...but I'm not interested in listening or watching a game that is a watered down diluted activity, crammed into an abbreviated season. The fans are part of the game, the players "feed" on fan participation and the 'energy' they provide... and along with missing fans there will be a myriad of additional changes that will further take away from the game.
IF a baseball season takes place I'll make an honest attempt to listen to a couple games to see how it goes...but for the same reason that people don't enjoy going to lame concerts by old singers who can no longer sing or perform, I'm not looking forward to a diminished season or game.
It might look like baseball, but it won't be baseball.

Yes absolutely. I don’t care who is in the stands or if there are even spectators. I want to see the boys in blue from Hamamatsu do this to Honda again and again and again!!!

The Governor of Mississippi, not known for his wit remarked that he missed sports so much that he would pay 200 hundred dollars to watch Governors from competing states play ping pong with each other.

Great question...my friends and I have been having this exact discussion.
College sports are my preference, with football at the top by a long shot. The only professional sport I really watch is NFL football, and that isn't with any regularity. I may have it turned on while I'm doing other things around the house. I'd never miss NBA, MLB, NHL, etc, it there were never another televised game.
But college football...different story.
Will I watch college football on tv if there are no fans in the stadium? Hell yes, especially if it's my team, or other teams I'm really interested in. Will I enjoy it? I'm not sure. To me, the crowd shots, the noise, the background action...all add to the enjoyment of watching the game on tv. One of the reasons that I hate watching some of the lower tier bowl games during bowl season is the lack of fans in the stands...no energy.
If things aren't back to a somewhat normal state by football season, it will be interesting to see what they'll do. I can see a situation where games are played with no fans in the stands, no band or cheerleaders, the teams spread out on the sideline from goal post to goal post, minimal staff, minimal media, minimal camera crews, etc.
It sure will be different, but I sure will watch it.
Absolutely yes. Need sports.... baseball, football, golf, lacrosse, motorcycle racing, my daughter’s high school softball... that one we are really missing right now.
