Zuppi, one of the Italians looks as bad as Francis.

One of the best ways to “put odds” on who will be elected the next Pope is to not select anyone who is on a list.

That being said, I think that he will be African and specifically Cardinal Sarah…although he is already quite old.

That would be a dream come true. But, at 79, not likely.

Benedict was a similar age when elected. Could be a similar papacy elected to “steady the ship”. Although, I do agree with you that his age is not in his favor.

Well, the longer he stays alive in an impotent state, it may not be a bad thing.,

Old medical adage: "Pneumonia is the old man's friend."
In this case, maybe the old Church's friend.

My former priest (an Irishman and just an absolutely great guy) related that gently to me after my father had passed from complications due to double pneumonia. He said, “you know, where I come from they say that pneumonia is an old man’s best friend”. And he was right.

Turn your TV off for a month and you’ll realize you don’t need any of it.

Literally can’t tell you when it was on last. And I haven’t seen or paid for cable since we moved to TX (6yrs). I can search the web for news.

In support of your assertion, I am glad to say I quit watching tv in 1989. I did watch the news coverage of the 1st Gulf War, since Internet news was not available at the time. Otherwise, I have not watched any regularly scheduled broadcast since.

What does this mean? That it's an easier way to die? Sorry for my ignorance.

Yup, better to go relatively quickly in a few days from pneumonia than linger in pain for a year with cancer or, even worse imho, suffer with dementia for several years.

It’s a common way to die and takes you pretty quickly.

It would be nice to have a conservative Pope, but I'd settle for a Catholic one.
