Some pretty big distributors like AcuSport are no longer in business.
My buddy said his salesman was making 5k a week in commissions at the peak.
Hope he saved some money.

I have a friend who dropped out of college during the dot com boom to be a computer programmer and was a VP before age 25. The bubble burst and that came to an abrupt end. He still waxes poetically about those days and acts as if it was normal and it'll be back soon.

I see the same thing in many gun dealers who act like the Odumbo era was normal.

Have seen a couple small shops in my area close recently, really hated to see the one go as they were super small but friendly staff.

I guess the second one didn't really close per se, but they did move their shop back into the pawn shop they grew from originally.

You're doing it right, Cliff. Work your way up the tiers.

Maybe it's time for some "fire sale" prices? I'd snatch up a P365 in a heartbeat if the price would come down a bit.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

California is a market unto itself with backwards laws and more one the way. I spent about 1k during freedom week getting 11+ round magazines. Now some terrible Ammo laws go into effect July 1. I had a lot of ammo on hand but I loaded up and bought about 1k of ammo this week.

Also scored a clean 5.5 inch 45 colt Blackhawk for $400 so deals are out there. Finding deals on off roster guns or out of production guns is a real chore however.

I have not bought a firearm since early 2016. The firearm business seems to be brutally cyclical based on political winds. As much as I hate to say it the wind direction will change again but who knows when and for how long. I expect demand will pick up fairly substantially by mid summer 2020 if not earlier.

It's been slow for a long time.

It is ALWAYS slow in the summer.

So it's EXTRA EXTRA SLOW.

Next summer, I think it'll be a bit different.

I've bought a couple of guns and some ammo in the past year or so, not because I "need" them but just because I could and had the money to do so. I just recently bought 500 rounds of 9mm to give to my Best Friend--he's a cop and shoots 9mm, so I figure he can do a lot of practice now. (He was very appreciative, too.) A few weeks ago I bought a Cimarron Arms SA in .45Colt, just for grins. I haven't shot it yet, but plan to do so soon.

On the bright side, manufacturers are starting to come out with new models and variations to gain sales. Look at everything Ruger has brought out in the past couple of years. I admit I'm guilty of buying into that with a Mark IV for my daughter and a GP100 in 10mm for me. How long have some of wished for Sig to bring out an SAO 229 and they finally did. Then other things t like the P365, Glock 43, etc.

Agreed, though. The overall market seems soft. Good time to buy.

Yeah, I should have said the general market is slow.

When you're talking some specific areas, like the rare/collectible guns, they still sell quite well.

Unfortunate but true.
I'm browsing gun-broker and found some good prices in surplus BHP's
AR's are dirt cheap.

I'm just hoping that H&K P-7's will somehow come out in the $500- $750 range again!

I bought a shit ton of ammo when it again became
available at a fair price, mostly .223, .300 BO and a mega bunch of .22LR, plus all the needed reloading supplies to keep shooting fer a awhile if need be...I'm pretty much "self suffeciant" in the ammo world. (I can cast a lifetime's supply of .358 and .456 as well as .309 bullets if needed)...I also bought several desired Ruger revolvers I had been jonsing for from Buds...so as of now, I'm GTG...not to mention magazines to feed the ARs, Glocks, Buckmarks, Marlins and the SIG 522...
The gun sales locally haa bottomed out...our last trade day at our range saw not many firearms exchanging hands, AR lowers were flat...but reloading stuff and ammo exited the building PDQ...I watched a S&W AR15 (used but as new w/box) go to a new owner for $465 with 5 Hex Mags AR magazines to boot...
The market is indeed saturated...
Good for buyers...shitty for sellers....but remember, the pendulam can and probably will swing to the other direction in the future...take Pars's advice, buy what you need when it's quiet Wink

I'm buying and stacking. A generic AR can be had for under 350, mags are dirt cheap, ammo is near bottom. Time to replenish, a drought will come soon enough.
