Only the panicky cattle have a problem with people canceling their memberships.

I certainly don’t have any sort of problem, people are free to cancel membership at any time.

I just don’t understand why it’s such a big deal. In the big scheme of things the mask is a minor inconvenience; Costco hands them out at no charge. Being told that I HAVE to wear it is a little annoying, but I have too many other things to get upset about, so I’m not going to raise my blood pressure over this.

It doesn't cost anything, if a customer does not have a mask Costco will offer one at no cost.

I look at this as a minor inconvenience, not really significant.

Costco is a private membership facility. I am far more irritated at having to be inspected when I exit, implying that I might be a shoplifter, than I am at being asked to wear a mask that is given to me at no cost.

Seems to me that people who are cancelling memberships because of the mask policy are making a mountain out of a molehill. My opinion, yours might be different.

My wife does nearly all our shopping. When I go to Costco the only "inspection" I have seen is when people leave they show their cash register receipt. The "inspector" simply marks it with a pen and waves us out.

I think this mask nonsense is over done, but it is what it is.

I have the mask, hand wipes, etc in my car but have yet to use it.

Went to Lowe's about a week ago, zero problem there. Some people had masks on, some did not. Some staff had masks, some did not.

What ticks me off is the stupid gubbornor of this state has restricted travel in our county. We have a place on the lower Potomac where I would like to be fishing. Can't go there. I would go anyway but wife had a conniption, so. .

It appears this thread started about Costco meat prices and morphed to Costco’s mask policy and membership cancellations.

We went to Costco today but did not buy meat. We did buy fresh veggies, TP, and paper towels.

They had a limit on meat but I was curious about their prices.

I always get better meat prices at Sam’s and Kroger.

Today, Kroger only had a limit one ground beef, chicken and pork.

Pork shoulders $1.79 lb
Boneless beef chuck roast 2.97 lb.

The only meat purchased today (freezer is well stocked) was pork belly.

One of Costco's best bargains is their rotisserie chicken. $4.99 for a hot, ready-to-eat, chicken, several dollars less than a similar chicken at Walmart or Publix.

I pick one up once or twice a month; my wife and I get a couple of meals out of it.

Is it true they haven't raised the price of that chicken in many years?

I hope not. Their chicken bake, when it becomes available again, is the best deal at the food court.

I'm usually to pissed off by the time I'm leaving to wait in line for food. I can't stand crowds and hate people/carts running into me or waiting for people standing around staring off into space. When I'm not too pissed off I do enjoy the chicken bakes and a churro for the wife.

I don’t understand a lot of this. Imagine a company trying to walk a fine line between satisfying the needs of customer and their employees. Twenty years from now we might read about this as the biggest boondoggle in history. The sales people probably hate wearing masks as much as anyone as I do. I see the same cashiers at Costco every-time. I would not want to be a cause of any harm to them.
I have saved a lot of money with Costco, they have excellent customer service. I take it for it is.

If they ask me to put on a mask, and give me the mask to shop to save money. I don’t take issue with it. Quitting the club because of it, is like having a headache and hitting your head with a hammer rather than take an aspirin I’ll show me moment.

Sorry for the drift, I get more than thirty calls a day for out of stock deep freezers every day because of the hoarding / spiking in meat prices. We are required to wear a mask. They are a pain.

It has been $4.99 for as long as I can remember.

Put it this way - if the virus stays active airborne for 30 minutes, but can stay active on surfaces for 6-9 days (depending on refrigeration), requiring gloves make more sense than requiring masks. Sure you could have it, but their mask requirement is ultra lame. The person next to me had a piece of cheese cloth over his mouth, and that is not stopping shit. IF they provide N95 masks that can filter down to 10 microns, it is one thing, but telling people they need to cover their face with any old thing is not stopping anything.

Yes, that offends me too, but the reality is that shrinkage happens and it drives the cost that you and I pay up. By reducing shrinkage by checking everyone’s receipt, they lower our costs.

That is how it used to be here. Last time I was in, the “inspector” was in a plexiglas box. Folks were asked (by a sign) to hold their receipts up against the plexi box for the inspector to review. Review seemed to be even more cursory than before,

I'm not contending that the mask is effective for anything. I really don't know, one way or the other.

My point is that it's not a big deal to use one, if Costco insists. Doesn't cost anything, they'll give you a free one at the door, so just put it on and don't get all excited about it. I have other things to worry about, a simple mask is not worth raising my blood pressure, or canceling Costco membership, or getting irritated. It might not do any good, but it doesn't do any harm. I just take the thing, put it on, and go about my business. I can discard it when I leave the store, and if Karen tries to get in my face about it while I'm walking through the parking lot, I can tell her to go self-fornicate.

Bought some ground beef (80/20 chuck) Thursday for burittos. $5.99 per pound at Food Lion (discount grocery store). Damn. Used to get good steaks on sale for that in the 2010's.

My beef, so to speak, with Costco and masks: yea, I could wear one. It's useless in my mind but it's mostly an annoyance.

My BIG gripe is them forcing me to conform to their idiocy. It's a membership. They didn't ask the membership to vote. This was a unilateral decision that has no pragmatic aspects. If they need to conform to some idiotic government regulation, fine. If it's their own policy, they can suck it.

I like wearing a mask now that I have my “ Fire Pritzker “ mask. I wear it everywhere especially in places I know the Democrats will be.

I don't disagree with you, but we are going to wait until our check comes in 4 weeks before we renew to cancel if prices have not decreased and their mask policy has not been amended. For us, it is more an issue with their prices, and how much they began skyrocketing after the mask thing started. They are now more expansive than the local Harris Teeter, with otherwise would be considered expensive.

I know that there has been a run on meat and I understand that several processors have been reduced output, but somehow the local grocer, BJ's and Sams club have not been as effected as Costco has.

I saw a picture from Costco, can't verify the information personally, but it showed 88% ground beef for $7.29, which is effing outrageous. I am hoping to stop over tomorrow afternoon and see if the prices have gotten any better.

My local Costco has been able to hold the line on Ground Beef price, it was $3.59 a pound in about a 7 or 8 pound package. It was, I think IIRC, 87% lean. Local grocers are around $7 a pound for the same lean percentage.

Any other beef cut price is expensive.

I don't know where you live, but my local Costco has the best prices on other beef cuts than my local grocers and the quality of course is much better from Costco.
