I was supposed to be there in 3 weeks. I cancelled the trip and moved it to late this year a week ago. Very difficult doing that with the timeshare (not mine) and the airline. Luckily was able to do it. I am concerned for my friend that lives on the island. He does blue collar work and takes care of a smaller property. Without travel to the island his income is going to go away. That whole place survives on tourism. Without it, the place will completely tank. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ My wife has family there and with the exception of one person, every single one of them have jobs dependent on tourism (hotels, airlines, etc.) She texted some of them yesterday and the mood is not good. And you're correct, the state is dependent on tourism. If the state mandates that a person must stay in a hotel room for more time than the person had committed for, let the state pay for it. They (the state) want it, they can pay for it. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Thank you Very little |
If I interpret it correctly, you don't have to stay that additional time, you can leave at anytime. If however, you choose to stay, you have to relegate yourself to your hotel room for the duration. In doing so you agree to pay for the room because you chose to stay. They aren't saying you can't leave, they are saying if you don't, you can't go out... So if you stay the extra week you made the decision to stay, not the State, either way you'd not be able to stay and not pay. If you cancelled the card you'd be taking services without payment, Five-oh would come by and take you for a little trip to your new room at the Grey Bar, since you are not a native...

That changes the picture, if true. I was under the impression that you were not free to leave at any time, my understanding (maybe mis-understanding) was that if you were caught by already being there at the wrong time, you would be forced to remain in quarantine in the hotel room for 14 days. If in fact a visitor is free to depart at any time, then my premise is not correct⋆, and I need to retract my previous statements. ⋆NOTE: I have been wrong before. Once. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Hawaii, the big problem will be leaving at all. Just got the update on Hong Kong, and it's fourteen days there, regardless. Those who lack the visa to stay the fourteen day quarrantine in a camp will be denied landing, or turned back and not be allowed to transit the airport. I'll go to a hotel, but must have a government call phone and tracker with me. The penalty for violating their policy is 25,000 and 6 months imprisonment. They're not kidding around. People who don't want to stay the 14 days in Hawaii can either leave before it starts, or not go. It's a lot stricter elsewhere.

I have a question. If all incoming tourism is now stopped, how will there be enough aircraft to get people home? Are the airlines going to fly empty aircraft to the islands just to get people home? Seems like a really expensive proposition to me.

Nobody said it’s stopped. It will be subject to 14 day quarantine. My guess is there will Probably be fewer flights but there will be flights for those that need them.
