IPA is said to remove brass too. Given all Sig and SIG 55x variants bounce brass off the receiver, it's normal to have wear. I bought several guns new from JDI and they had eroded paint from factory test-firing.
Many people while apply a small strip of 90mi/hr tape or gaffer's tape to protect their guns. I don't.

Chore Boy scrub pads for pots and pans will probably scrub them right off. They are pure copper. Stay away from the copper coated ones. They are great for pushing junk out of your bore also.

That is what I have. Not brass kisses as I thought. A little touch up with black marker covered up the eroded paint.
