I have a new prescription for glasses that needs to be filled and as the subject line says I'd like to hear what online vender is best. I've never bought them online before. For online prescription glasses I've heard good things about Warby-Parker. For sunglasses, I can attest to the quality, great service, etc. provided by Maui Jim. I also have a pair of "reading" sunglasses from them as well as regular sunglasses. They do offer distance prescription sunglasses too so check them out at www.mauijim.com | |||

I used to buy from Warby Parker -https://www.warbyparker.com/. They have brick and mortar locations where you can try everything on, or they'll ship you frames to try. Either way, you order your glasses from them with your prescription and they show up about a week later. I really liked them. I has lens replacement surgery, and got Light Adjustable Lenses,, so no more glasses for me | |||

My wife uses Warby Parker. They will also send frames for you to try on in your home. My wife has done that several times before a physical location opened near us. ____________________ I Like Guns and stuff | |||

Sorry I can't help with the online purchase question. Just bought two pairs of prescription glasses (one was prescription sunglasses) from Costco. Average eye exam, but great prices and great customer service, with a few extras included in the price. | |||

4/5 people in glasses in my house got the last pair or two from Warby Parker. I'm 99% contacts, but desperately needed a glasses update. They're pretty comfortable, but I do need to get in to have the m fine adjusted. I get a bit of ear discomfort after wearing them all day. The Enemy's gate is down. | |||

For inexpensive glasses I use (great pricing): Zenni Opitcal https://www.zennioptical.com/ It is a US company HQ in CA (the glasses are made in china). For high end glasses (very lightweight) I really like Roku. https://www.roka.com/ It is a US company founded in Texas (the glasses are also made in china). The Zenni's really are so inexpensive I get several back up pairs. (I included the fact they are made in China because I know many of us check this....Almost all frames are made in China though. For non-rx sunglasses - Liquide Eyewear frames are manufactured in the US, Yuma, Arizona) Dave Not a Newbie! Posting on rare occasions, but lurking for years! | |||

I tried Warby-Parker for both frames and lenses. WARNING; W-P grinds ONLY “progressive lenses”, not the traditional bi-focal lines version. When I got the on-line version (progressive lens) delivered, I tried for 2 days to get used to them, but it was just too much discomfort (headache and strained eyesight). Took them to their mall-based store and returned them. I then bought the same frames and went to Lens Crafters and had them grind the traditional line bi-focal lenses. Re Zenni Optical: Pro: Low cost Con: S L O W order fulfillment. Ordered glasses with NO lens tint. Received with very noticeable yellow cast. Contacted Zenni customer no-service. They offer replacement at no cost but advised that all of their "no tint" lenses have this anti-glare coating that is yellowish. No point in ordering replacement, it would be the same thing, so opted for a refund. They only refund 50%. Buyer beware. I get mine from a frame maker I like, Shuron. They don't have a ton of choices, but they do make a wide range of sizes in their frames, including giant melon sizes. Their lab has done a great job for me on lenses. www.shuron.com They are small. You can just call them up, and they will help you. I think the guy who takes orders is named Thomas, and he is great. Their service is impeccable. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything. | |||

I have bought many pairs from Zenni, always what I ordered, they take about 10 days-2weeks Every year I order 2 pair of glasses and 1 pair of sunglasses. The glasses I buy are frameless, single vision with all of the upgrades and coatings for about $60, they are so light I don't hardly know they're there, sunglasses run about the same. You can definitely get cheaper if you wanted. On the sunglasses I stick to a RayBan style frame and note the measurements so they are not too small or too big. You can make any frame in to sunglasses BTW | |||

That is a deal breaker for me. I tried progressive lenses once and they bothered the heck out of me and being tri-focal the lined lenses work far better. I think I'll just go to Costco. We haven't been shopping there for some time and would have to pay the $60 annual fee. I've bought from them before and was pleased with the price and service. Thanks everyone for the input. Been getting mine from Zenni for at least 10 years. I’ve always been very satisfied with them. I’ve never noticed any yellow tint from the coating on my lenses that V-Tail reports. They usually arrive in about two weeks. | |||

Another Zenni user here. I got 2 pairs, one safety glasses for work and 1 for home for less than $200 and I am very happy with them both. | |||

My experience was a while ago, maybe on the order of ten years. They might have changed since then. However, for my needs, there is a Costco maybe five or ten minutes from my house, so I have a large selection of frames* and the lens work that they do is excellent quality and reasonably priced. * If you can't find the frame that you want at Costco, you can bring your own. I purchased Oakley frames and lenses from SportsRX. Good service, good product, but it is hard for me to spend that much money online. For a decade I have enjoyed Costco frames and lenses. So much cheaper, and such excellent optical department customer service. ------- Trying to simplify my life... | |||

I did Zenni a couple of times. Was pleased with the price and product. I found out I can get a free pair from the VA every year so that's what I do now. A few years ago I came across a company that makes glasses with minimalist frames, the kind that just rest on the bridge of your nose. I didn't order right then and have since lost their info. but have always thought those would be good to have while laying down and reading on my side. | |||
