I'm a Jeep guy but we also have a 4Runner. I thought the new LC would move me off my Jeep but it's not happening. I would be in for a 6 cyl non hybrid, I'm just not sold on this technology. ________________________________ "Nature scares me" a quote by my friend Bob after a rough day at sea.

Thank you Very little |
Looks a lot like the new Bronco was the target in the design room...

I don't see the new Land Cruiser hybrid being a true off road runner, anyone care to deep water cross one with batteries?. Out yonder, here in AZ, during monsoon season, on occasion, like once in a great while, off roading might just put the waterline about 1/3 from the bottom of the doors. If you're gonna cruise about on smooth dirt roads and drive around town, I would imagine it's going to be just dandy.

I like it but it’s no competition to the Bronco and Jeep in my opinion. This starts at mid 50k and that’s the upper end of regular versions of the other two. It’ll probably be a better rig because it’s a Toyota but it’s too much damn money to me but I’m also comparing it to a 2 door of the others as that’s all I’d ever want.

If they use the hybrid powertrain to make it less thirsty than my Tundra I'll be looking hard at one.

I sympathize with Toyota trying to navigate the current world auto market, with a vehicle intended primarily for the back roads of Africa and the Australian Outback, but with a hungry market in the US where the government is trying to terminate—with extreme prejudice—vehicles like the Land Cruiser. Toyota alone of all the cringing car manufacturers has told the truth—EV’s aren’t the future for everyone everywhere. I’ve been a Honda/Acura fan for decades, but see them caving in to the EV-only stupidity. I may buy the new generation pilot, keep my 2.0 turbo Accord and my AP2 S2000; but I’ll be watching Toyota for making the technology that walks the narrow line between obsolescence and impracticality. _________________________ “ What all the wise men promised has not happened, and what all the damned fools said would happen has come to pass.”— Lord Melbourne

Toyota had the FJ Cruiser, well built, reliable. Sales dropped off so they discontinued it. They are pushed into the direction of the new Land Cruiser assuming this is what the customer wants. I'm not into it, I prefer off road stuff that can tow 6k pounds, recreation type stuff, second vehicle kinda thing.

Was that you or the dog? |
I would have been more interested I a major refresh of the 4Runner. Turbo on the V6? Perhaps a power plant from the Tundra? An 8 speed auto? It is obvious that 4Runner buyers don't get worked up about MPG so please deliver on the power. Then load up on the tech. Wireless CarPlay, Adaptive Cruise, Heads up display, big screen, Remote Start with no bullshit monthly fee, etc. ___________________________ "Opinions vary" -Dalton

Anyone seen the new gx550 at a dealer yet? Preproduction models have been making the training rounds. Not coming close to me unfortunately. Looks like the LC will be released after the GX Regardless, I’m on a list for an Overtrail+ at MSRP ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Live today as if it may be your last and learn today as if you will live forever

There’s a company near me that out fits various vehicles for the State Dept. and the military. They literally have hundreds of LC’s in various forms. Some right hand drive, some left hand drive. All white. They leave their facility in different colors, various levels of armor and even things like pop up turrets… I want to work there in my next life! ------------------ Eddie Our Founding Fathers were men who understood that the right thing is not necessarily the written thing. -kkina
