Yep. Not quite "the show" but hopefully he gets there.

Cool! Congrats to him and the family.

Is that the Danville just up the street from you in IL? If so, you might have to make some road trips, I assume.

Danville, VA. Near the North Carolina state line.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Be sure to keep us posted as he moves in the organization...If he goes to the AA squad we'll try to go see him when they play the Smokies!

I'll echo that. If he moves up to Jackson, there's a chance I'd see him play there.

It's not like there's a lot that get picked to play at that level, congrats!

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Being signed by a major league franchise is no small feat, but the reference to "the show" is reserved for those who actually play at the major league level. Playing for a minor league affiliate, or farm team, would not be considered "the show".

I'm certainly not trying to minimize the accomplishment, and congratulations are definitely in order. I'm just trying to clarify the lexicon. Congratulations to the young man, and I sincerely hope that one day he does make it to the show!

Yeah, my bad. I thought I read the Atlanta Braves.

Still impressive.

That's awesome!

For those that aren't huge baseball fans... this is an oversimplification, but generally, the minor leagues have A teams, AA teams, and AAA teams...

The AAA team is usually the players on the cusp of breaking into the big leagues. AA players get called up to AAA ball, and so on. (There are multiple teams or leagues at A level or even below that players can start in or play for specific reasons or instruction)

It is pretty rare for players to move from A or even AA ball right to the majors (except for Mike Trout type talent).

it is very common for players in the minors to move around teams in trade, even elite level talent.

But with that said.... this means he is in the very top group of baseball players in the world.

Good for him, and I hope he does well and gets promoted up the chain.
