The Culvers here is by far the most consistent ,best tasting burger .

That includes Chick F.A..
(Gasp, yes I said it)

The last couple of times I had a Whopper the patties had pieces of bone in them. I guess that’s how the reassure their customers the patties are actually some kind of meat.

Yeah, I was a Hardee's fan, back in the day.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I haven't had a Whopper for a while. A couple of years ago I changed to Whataburger. I only put mustard and lettuce on my well-done burgers, anyway, and I like the Whataburger ones better.

I used to actually like BK for a whopper, on occassion.

I live in a pretty small town (~4k people) just off a 4 lane divided hwy, there's a BK on the 4 lane, it's absolutely as terrible as you can get. Always understaffed, even though it sucks so bad it's barely busy, crap service and food. About 2 months ago I made the mistake of "trying" to eat there. They were out of burger meat, I mean, it's called Burger King... Roll Eyes

If you’re gonna do that, you’d be much, MUCH better off going to Whataburger, if there’s one in your area…

I could darn near eat miracle whip with a spoon, so I'm pretty sure the Whoppers being served near me don't have it because I don't detect the trademark twang it gives food.

The location of the restaurant became less convenient for me a few years ago, so I don't get them as often. Maybe since it's more of a novelty, I haven't noticed any decline or difference?

They closed all the Whataburgers in Florida years ago. It didn't catch on.

You and I do not see eye-to-burger, if you know what I mean. Each of the three things that you mentioned would ruin a good burger for me. Well done? Nope, I like mine medium rare, which is difficult to get; burger places always overcook for my taste. Mustard? Nope, I prefer ketchup, sometimes catsup, and maybe a dab of mayo, but never Miracle Whip. Lettuce? Nope. A slice of onion is fine, maybe tomato, but definitely not lettuce.

Different taste buds, different burgers.

I've never had a What-A-Burger; I don't think that there's a location anywhere near me. Looks like Jacksonville, about 140 miles, is the closest.

There appear to be 42 Whataburger locations in Florida. We ate at one on the way home from Mobile after we evacuated for Irma. Before that, my oldest and I ate at one in Texas when we went there to trade our travel trailer in on a fifth wheel. We liked them, but that was a long time ago and who knows what’s changed since then.

I used to like the Whopper. I can only think of only two restaurants we frequent where quality hasn’t taken a hit in the last 3 years.

I should have said Whataburger moved out of Central Florida. Looked it up. It was way back in 2009. I've had Whataburger. It's okay but it's not much better than any other fast food burger. Lately I've been getting my burger fix at Hooters. It just seems... tastier there for some reason. With a 22oz Yuengling.

Looks like they're all in the northern part of the state. Closest one to me is Jacksonville area, and they go west from there, through the panhandle. None down here within striking distance of the Orlando area. Not even Daytona, which would seem to be a natural, given the tourist trade there.

Also, Miracle Whip SUCKS. Tell them to skip that crap and put some Dukes on it at home.

I used to work at Pizza Hut in the late 80’s. We’d oil the pans in the morning so that the pan pizzas crusts would essentially ‘fry’ while passing through the conveyor oven…good god that crispy fried pan pizza crust was delicious.

Not no more.

I hate Mayo on a burger. I thought only Southerners ate it on sandwiches. I hate sweet tea as well.

When I got out of college and moved to Portland (45 years ago) there was a Pizza Hut walk-in sit-down place about a half mile from my apartment. I used to go there "frequently" and it was great. You're right about the crust.

After I moved again it was a LONG time before I ate at Pizza Hut again, like maybe 10 years ago now. God, it was terrible. The crust was soggy and undercooked and so thin in the middle (this was NOT ordered as a thin-crust) that it fell apart when I picked up a slice. I don't think I'll be going back again. My go-to chain pizza place has been Round Table for many years now.

As for BK, I never was a fan. For a short while, decades ago, they had a promotional burger with like 5 different kinds of cheese on it, that was interesting to eat. But otherwise, their burgers are pretty meh. Once in a while I'll go there at breakfast time for an eggnormous burrito, but that's it.

Culver's and Freddie's for me. Whataburger I've never gotten why they are so highly regarded. In Springs an In and Out is right next to a Slim Chicken. Never had an In and Out. Chicken from Arkansas wins every time. To solve the Whopper problem just take a jar of Dukes with you. Scrape off the crap and apply the good stuff.
