The consensus on LG and Samsung seems to be they look good and have lots of features BUT.... reliability is poor. My 18 year old GE Profile bottom freezer refrigerator has never missed a beat nor needed any kind of attention so based on MY experience whenever it does quit I'll just buy another GE Profile.

Add Amana. I'm happy with my Amana which is also a part of Whirlpool which now makes all of these brands.

All my research says these are the brands to buy, especially the models with a bottom freezer that don't have french doors.

Our GE profile is 25 years old, and it's close to time for a replacement. Temp Control is hanging on by a thread, and the discontinued NOS replacement part I bought doesn't look right despite the fact it's the correct part number. I would buy another GE, except they are now owned by Haier, and have lost what reputation they had.

I can’t speak to the Samsung fridge, (I have a new frigidaire and am satisfied), but I can speak to POS Samsung dryers.

If you remember my dryer incident thread, I’ve been through FIVE (5) Samsung dryers until now. The things keep busting!!! I don’t know how they’re in business! The washer works well though.

Samsung appliances are crap. How they are still in that business, I don’t know.

We will never again purchase another Samsung appliance.

Yeah! I’m seeing that! Specifically their higher end model! The cheap loaner dryers they keep giving us never break, but there’s been a string of 5 MAJOR issues with 5 DIFFERENT Samsung dryers (same model) since the electrical thing. We just got the fifth dryer last week, it’s unbelievable!!!

I would highly suggest that you demand a store credit from wherever you bought it and buy a whirlpool or maytag.

I had terrible support from Samsung with a new TV. While searching for others with the same issues, I came across many, many complaints about their refrigerators. It took a letter to the New Jersey BBB to get resolution (their corporate office is there).

Seems like if they work, you're fine. If you need support, abandon all hope...

Bought a Samsung double door two years ago. Within 6 months we lost 3 loads of food. Fortunately Samsung reimburses. Finally got a Samsung tech (good luck finding those) determine the fridge was not repairable and got a in store refund, bought a Frigidaire.

Funny thing, the delivery guy who brought the Samsung had just started that day and was the same guy who picked it up and brought the Frigidaire. He said that most or his exchanges are for broken Samsungs.

Whirlpool and Maytag are probably the most reliable. LG and Samsung make great electronics but horrible appliances.

Avoid Frigidaire. Ours managed to last 15 years, but it was noisy, occasionally leaked water from the defrost process, and we did have to have it repaired at least once during that time. It finally gave up the ghost and we happily replaced it Whirlpool. We like the Whirlpool, been 2 years now.

If you offered me a threesome with perfect 10s and the chance to beat the shit out of the people responsible for Samsung refrigerators, I’d pick “beat the shit out of Samsung people” every time.

Nowadays you should be pretty damn happy with that. I doubt that Whirlpool will last as long.

Stick with a side-by-side.

Big drawer on the bottom puts too much weight on the drawer slides.

LOLOL, that's hilarious!!!!

That is how I felt about the Whirlpool Gold french door bottom freezer that I had.

Fucker froze up every couple weeks and would leak water everywhere.

Replaced defrost elements, boards, all kinds of bullshit.

Had that thing apart so many times the threads were starting to wear on the screws that held it together.

I went with an LG French door/ bottom freezer (no ice maker) and so far its been good (still under warranty though).

If this one craps out early I will give up and buy the cheapest Roper I can find and screw a stainless steel plate to the front for looks Big Grin

.

There is a very simple fix for that issue and it does not involve replacing any of the parts you listed.
