A very varied and colorful career for sure. His book Will was very interesting. RIP G-Man. (My forum name is coincidental btw. It’s been my nickname for over 30 years)

I met Mr. Liddy several years ago at the Bianchi Cup awards banquet. Nice guy (unless you piss him off) and engaging speaker.

Arrogant, egotistical, and fun! Great guy to listen to.

Sorry the guy is dead. But I never really understood the fascination with this guy. It was a botched burglary that made him famous. He was an unrepentant convicted felon from my understanding. I never read any of his books. But I heard his radio show on occasion. He was a political firebrand, for sure. Apparently, all the guns in his house were "owned by his wife." He was a colorful guy, with what appeared to be a broken moral compass. I wish him well in his eternity. _____________ "I enter a swamp as a sacred place—a sanctum sanctorum. “That is a gratuitous assertion and can be dismissed equally as gratuitously” I have a signed picture of him somewhere in my stuff. RIP You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

I don't celebrate his death, but (considering what acts resulted in his felony conviction) I can't describe his service to the country as "honorable." His participation in a politically motivated burglary was akin to the violations of law committed by members of the FBI in 2016 and 2017 against candidate, then President Trump. Liddy was caught, tried, convicted, and punished. Those who targeted Trump were caught and for the most part appear to have escaped being held responsible for their crimes, for no reason other than the fact their proponents have the backing of the media (which Liddy didn't). Cheering on these kinds of people and crimes normalizes them. I think we as a nation are better than that and I believe the FBI must be more accountable than it's been since it's inception. Liddy, Comey, et al, are symptoms of an organizational culture that must be changed instead of revered. Not really from Vienna![]() |
The difference being that Liddy wasn’t a member of the nation’s top law enforcement agency when he committed his crime.

Liddy was at one time, however, both a lawyer and an FBI agent and his crime as well as his espoused beliefs speak to his overall character.

Anybody think Liddy would have been cowering under a desk if he was in congress January 6th? He was a convict, rightly so, but he was our convict.

I listened to the G-Man for years on the radio and I have read all of his books, he was a one of a kind. I think the only thing he was afraid of was Mrs. Liddy. He sure was proud of his kids. He will be missed. May he RIP.

I was an avid listener to his show when it was on the air in my city back in the ‘90s/early 2000s. He will be missed. Vaya Con Dios, G-Man!!! EDIT: Truly a man with BIG balls!!! Retired Texas Lawman

Thank you Very little ![]() |
Got to see him speak at the KYADA convention in Maui back in the 70's, my dad wasn't real interested in hearing him, but I'd read his book and wanted to see the man. He did a good job working the room and speaking

I loved Robert Conrad's portrayal of Liddy. If anyone could do justice in capturing his persona, it was Conrad.

Not a chance. As an aside, I was embarrassed for them. How do they shave in the morning? Cowards, every single one of them.

G Gordon Liddy trivia: The 1973 Steely Dan hit, "My Old School", mentions him. He was the "Daddy G" that he tried to warn her about. Seems Liddy was the local DA trying to make a splash by arresting a bunch of frat boys smoking weed on campus, including the Steely Dan founders.
