If I don't shoot 1000rds on a gun over the past year, out it goes. Exception is the shotgun. Sold two pistols this week.

I've never been like many traditional firearm enthusiasts, I don't think, who try to accumulate as many guns as possible. I only own 6 guns, and I'm trying to sell one. I'm a bit of a minimalist, and am just interested in having the bare minimum of guns I would need, more or less anyways. Not just about guns, I'm like that for pretty much everything. I'm fairly non-materialistic, and don't feel like that's a bad thing. So I guess my answer is yes, even with only a half dozen pieces, I feel like lightening the herd a bit.

Yeah, I do and try to consolidate a bit. My problem is all the parts/mags/holsters/etc. for each. I think I go overboard on that stuff which leads me to believe I have too many guns overall because of all of the clutter. Hello, my name is Wasabi and I am a hoarder. ___________________________

There are times that I think I should maybe sell some, but then when I start going through them I can't seem to let them go. Certainly, no P series Classic Sigs !

in my 57 years of buying firearms, I've only sold 1 and don't miss it! I talk to lots of people who have sold this or that and have regretted selling some firearms. I clean ALL my firearms at least once a year. I have multiple firearms for every standard caliber. Most of the guns I bought were for a specific purpose or specific reason. Case in point: when my Dad passed away, I received a bit of cash. At that time, I didn't have a polymer pistol, so I used part of that cash to buy my first polymer pistol: a SA XD-M. I will not part with that firearm. Others are in the same situation. When I die, my firearms go to my wife. Some of them will go to sons and grandsons (no grand-daughters) but the rest is hers. She's a shooter too! I've got a database ofall my guns and what I paid for them. Additionally, I update their value though Gunbroker every year. She'll know what they are worth and make a decision on that!

Absolutely not. I have thought of selling a firearm to get another I would like, but then I can’t seem to part with it so I will have to wait until I can afford the new one. I actually really only have two firearms left I really want to get and they are the same caliber, but it is a caliber I don’t have so that is a whole new amount of ammo to have to get. Yes. I’ve got duplicates of duplicates in some cases, then weird thing that don’t fit. I’d like to pare down and own probably fewer really nice guns than many mid-tier guns. ______________________________________________ “There are plenty of good reasons for fighting, but no good reason ever to hate without reservation, to imagine that God Almighty Himself hates with you, too.”

I don’t have many firearms, the ones I sold (2) I wish I had back. They were both used as my service weapons, a six inch 66 and a six inch 19. I will not be selling but passing them down to my son when my stewardship ends. ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

I have downsized multiple times and am down to just about 40 guns now, and can easily see the time I cut that in half again. 20 guns should cover all the things I need, with back ups in case of breakage.

I had a redundant 308 bolt gun that I sold last year, but I am getting to the point where Im more circumspect about what I will be buying. Id really like a Benelli M2 tactical, but might not buy it (seems to never be in stock) or will buy a cheaper similar gun like a Mossberg. Would like a new HP (have a pretty cool C-series already), either the Springfield or - thanks FN for your latest announcement! Also those PSA 9MM AK-V pistols look interesting, esp the ones with the wood handguards. If I can pick one up at the Charlotte store I'd strongly consider it. Browning BDA? I need to shoot the guns I have more. Probably dont need as many ARs as I have and could part with 1 or 2 and be just fine. --------------------------------------- It's like my brain's a tree and you're those little cookie elves.

Yes. In the past year I have sold off about 6 guns. 6 more are on consignment at LGS. 3 of those are sold waiting the forever background check. My Bullseye days are behind me. Have not had a match in 10-12 years. No time to train seriously. Already got my D. Kids are not interested. Can't take them with me...... Yep. Downsizing has just scratched the surface. You guys will miss out on Sig sales if I understand the Boss. SIGnature NRA Benefactor CMP Pistol Distinguished

My father got me started shooting when I was very young. I always enjoyed it and became a “trader”/“collector” in my teens. My dad told me I wasn’t a trader because I never let anything go. Dad was also the guy that would periodically describe a great gun that he had previously owned but traded it or sold it for a profit because my folks needed the money. I tried to make sure I wouldn’t have that regret myself someday. I would save money from odd jobs and then have dad pick something up for me since I wasn’t old enough at that time. I never partied like a lot of my friends and always worked so I would acquire guns when something decent would turn up that I liked. Dad taught me to never mess with trashy stuff and I’ve followed that advice all along. I was worried about my collection until I had a son almost 5 years ago. At this point he is showing interest and I’m happy to foster that interest. I’ve always viewed the guns as investments to some extent because I’ve always maintained them as well as possible. Now I’m just a curator as others have described because I’ll pass them all onto him someday just as my dad has done for me. I was actually able to give my a dad an old Smith & Wesson .22wmr for his birthday a couple days ago. He’d always wanted one but would never spend the money on himself to buy one. Absolutely. Considering it now at 52 years old. I've thought of moving everything except some Gen 5 Glock 9mms, ARs, Rem 870, and a bolt .308; focus on ammo, mags, spare parts, and training with those 4 basic types going forward. I could just sell the rest and put the cash in savings as I approach entering the T-DROP and retiring. I bought a trust from Dean and my kids will get what remains when I kick the bucket. I'm not sure that this is what I'm going to do, but I understand the sentiment. My collection has just become...too much.

I’m a proponent of having a relatively small number of high quality firearms that I actually use. The older I get, the more of a minimalist I become. I know guys that are almost overwhelmed with the shear amount stuff that they own. At some point it stops being a joy and becomes a burden, and I don’t want that. Like has been mentioned, some of these guys are starting think about the mess they will be leaving their family when they are gone and it bothers them. One recently mentioned how it is a relief when they go down to Florida to their little trailer with just the basic living essentials. They come back to MI to their main house, and are almost depressed at coming home to all of the stuff that has cluttered up their life. Do it. Free yourself of all that stuff you don’t need or use. Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love. - 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

The only reason I’ve ever sold a gun was to make a mortgage payment or pay an unexpected tax bill. I don’t have a lot but I ain’t selling no more.

A somewhat similar thread last week 'Getting Older: Gun Ownership vs Stewardship, where I replied: 'I'm beginning to think of this firearm distribution exercise as equivalent to a 401k RMD so that its done with some kind of plan and enjoyment.' I need to start to distribute now. I'll look at it as a required minimum distribution but instead of waiting to start it at 72 like my 401k requires, I'll start doing it now. Distribute or sell some each year until I'm down to just a few (<10) Rifles, Shotguns and pistols in total.

Never. My wife asks weekly as my health has gotten worse. I have an inventory with prices and someone lined up to help.
