I’m in the hospital on a heparin drip. Around 2pm, my right eye wouldn’t focus. I thought it was a bad contact lens and went to take it out and my right pupil was almost fully dilated. A quick internet search basically said go to the ER, so I did. They had me in a room with like, eight people nearly instantly. I took a picture, and I basically look like the old Rolling Stone cover of Marilyn Manson without the makeup, but in the interest of not posting biometrics on the internet, I’ll spare you guys.

I have a small clot behind my eye, and thankfully it only caused some vision issues before we caught it. Just talked to the doc, and since the MRI looked good and my wife has good insurance, then hopefully tomorrow I should be able to transition to an oral blood thinner for the next three to six months instead of rat poison, and it’ll be less to deal with.

My wife and son will be out of town until Tuesday. We’re having an open house this weekend and between the house, the move, my cat dying, and the confluence of everything at once, I guess it was enough. I hadn’t noticed any blood pressure changes, but one might not in the midst of all that.

I need a vacation. I’m tired, ya’ll.

Glad you did the smart thing, it was caught quickly, and doesn’t seem to be major. Pretty fucking scary, though.

Prayers inbound.

Don’t discount the aged old rat killer (warfin) as a blood thinner. My doc opted fo it vs the newer ones because it can be immediately reversed with vitamin K. She said if I needed emergency surgery while on blood thinners all the others took hours and hours to get out of your system.

BTW, good on you for catching what was going on. Speedy recovery. Have them ultrasound all your arteries in your neck to see if that’s where the clot came from.
