I have to say I was really excited to get one of these yesterday. I have been wanting something new from Apple for so long, I just couldn't wait to get his new folding phone.

For me at least I was completely let down! Disappointed! I unboxed it and right away and I knew it wasn't for me. I did watch all the YouTube videos. I really thought I was going to like it. I just don't!

I set it up and played with it for a bit, trying to convince myself I could possibly start to like it. Nope. I switched back to my iPhone 16 Pro Max and set the new duo back to factory and boxed it back up. Taking it back to Apple this morning.

Just wondering the thoughts from others if they received one.

The reviewer at the WSJ was also unimpressed. link to unlocked WSJ article, "iPhone Duo Review: Too Much iPhone, Too Little iPad"

In a nutshell, her take was it's a first generation product, a few hardware/software revs away from being compelling.

I’ve never had any interest in a folding phone of any sort.
The iPhone Pro models are just right for me.

What turned you off on it?

I have read it’s mostly going to appeal to professionals looking for a phone/tablet hybrid…travelers, tech, finance sorta folks.

I don't want to go from big to bigger.

How about a phone that folds up so it can fit inside a real pocket?

I'm curious, what specifically didn’t you like about it?

I just switched to the Samsung Z-Fold 8 Ultra and so far I'm pretty happy with it.

Folded, it is insignificantly thicker then my old phone and when I use the outside screen in the folded position, the look and feel is just like using my old phone. I use it folded for most things unless the inside screen will be useful like using maps, reading my book, the weather radar app, surfing the web and such. I'm still learning it, but being able to run multiple apps on the same screen should become useful at times.

I've never been too interested in folding phones, but at least earlier ones could be operated with one hand or operated like older flip phones like the Motorola Razr. Once they went "passport" style I was out completely. I don't like the Pro Max because it's hard to operate with one hand, and I've got no interest in going bigger.

Here is a review from a phone reviewer I've liked who is probably the biggest proponent of folding phones I've found.

He's also recently done a video to help decide if you want a folding phone:

This is the only flip phone I'm interested in and I don't understand why somebody can't make/release one again. It does everything you need a phone to do and slips right into your pocket. Best phone I ever had.

I've always liked the concept but under the circumstances today, I couldn't justify the need or the actual benefit that I would get out of it.

I got one delivered yesterday but I’m away for work until Thursday. I got the 18 Pro Max earlier this year and will use the new handoff feature to switch back and forth between the two depending on what I’m doing.

They still make flip phones, but they aren't on display because they don't sell well. Either ask your carrier or browse their website and you'll find a couple.

I didn't have sufficient interest to even care to find out what the selling points are. Still don't know and still don't care.

I mean, if I need to buy a computer or tablet or phone, it would be an Apple. But this phone hasn't stirred even an iota of interest for me.

Just curious what about them excites people to buy one.

Fixed it for you…

May come as a surprise, but you seem to have different needs than others. There is a reason those models are almost non-existent…

I’m a huge Apple fanboi. Currently have the 17 Pro Max, but no interest in this. Smaller phone screen and inferior cameras vs Pro Max, smaller when open than iPad Mini, and significantly higher price point than a Pro Max phone.
