Which one is it? You don't care or you want to know why people are interested?

Sounds like both to me. Kinda strange. I mean, if you didn’t care “to find out what the selling points are……and still don’t”, then why even care to find out “what about them excites people to buy one”? Maybe he really wants one. What’s that saying again? The gentleman doth protest too much, methinks. Q

Being a current pro max user, I think the size of the phone when folded was to small for my taste. I knew it was smaller before buying it, I just didn't think I would miss the front screen size as much. I hated losing the Face ID. I didn't think it would be an issue, but it seems like "more work" getting into the phone. Right now I pull my phone out of my pocket, quick swipe and I am in. The duo I had to make sure I was touching the button on the side when I grabbed it. When unfolded the duo was really nice. Picture, internet, mail all were great. Except I felt like I was on an iPad mini kind of. I needed both hands. I know most people are going to love it! Just wasn't for me. Maybe I'm getting old and just want simplicity... _________________________ Einstein defines insanity as "Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results"

That one didn't sell which is why they're trying the iPhone Air for people that want a smaller iPhone.

It's more I don't fucking care. It's a fucking phone. Has as much interest to me as buying a fucking hammer or screwdriver. I don't care about the phone itself. I'm just minimally, casually curious about why people get excited about a new phone. In terms of general behavior and psychology. What's the big deal? It sounded like you contradicted yourself in the very next sentence. If you're actually interested in why people are interested then the 2nd video I posted is for you.

Perhaps it did sound that way. And I apologize if I sounded a bit harsh in my retort; I think my annoyance from dealing with people earlier this morning carried over. I didn't watch the videos you posted (honestly, I had to go back to find your previous post as I didn't recall the videos posted). I didn't watch the videos because I'm not really interested in foldable phones. It's a curiosity to me why people get excited about phones in general. I'm a little aghast at having to spend upwards of $600-1200 to buy a new phone. I'm even hesitant to buy a replacement battery at $90 for my 11. I just don't understand the love people have for phones in general. I don't really pay attention to them until mine break and I need to buy a replacement. It use to be with phones that the next generation provided new functionality, and the iPhone Duo has the same promise as the Android foldables except with more optimized apps. Now they turned into laptops with hardware and software upgrades, but nothing really ground breaking.

I have no interest in the Duo, but the web tends to overhype such reports. Truth is the daughter of time. Serious about crackers.

I'm with you. I cried when they killed it. @DanH, I will probably get the Air when I get my next phone, but would still prefer the mini. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell

I've had nothing but iPhones since 2008 with the iPhone 3G. I had an iPhone 12 Pro for my personal phone since its release date in 2020 and am issued an iPhone 16 at work. It was notable how much lighter and faster the plain-Jane 16 was over my 12 Pro. I was going to pick up an iPhone 17 for my personal phone this past spring, but instead waited and picked up the iPhone 18 Pro on its release date in September. Honestly, I'm disappointed. Its a 1tb model and is by far the most expensive phone I've ever bought. The cameras are quite good and zoom is impressive, but it is a heavy brick in its form factor. I honestly haven't been happy with the form factor since my 6S Plus, which I kept longer than usual because I liked it so much. We will see what they release in the spring, but I don't see carrying this expensive brick long term. The fold seems like it answers a question nobody asked. Proverbs 28:1

At most you'll get another color for the Pro phones and a parts bin SE. Otherwise all iPhone releases are in September.

Right. I thinks it's usually (sometimes), new iPads and Mac's in the spring. _________________________ Einstein defines insanity as "Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results"

Apple says it will replace iPhone Duo units showing screen problems Apple says affected customers should contact AppleCare for a replacement as teardown experts probe whether the hinge creates a stress point. Apple acknowledged on Monday that some iPhone Duo units have experienced inner display failures and advised affected customers to contact AppleCare for replacements, three days after the device launched on Friday. Early owners in Australia and Texas reported the inner display cracking within hours or days of purchase, with some hearing an audible crunch before bright lines or dead pixels appeared on the screen. Repair firm iFixit theorized that a hinge support bar may fail to shift during folding, creating pressure on the display. Technician Shahram Mokhtari said, "Many of these damage reports describe folding or unfolding the phone, hearing a crunch, and pushing past it." Out-of-Warranty inner display repairs cost $999 on a device starting at $1,999, making AppleCare+ coverage critical; Apple's limited warranty covers manufacturing defects but excludes accidental damage. Foldable screen failures recall Samsung's 2019 Galaxy Fold cracking issues, highlighting resilience challenges for first-generation technology. IDC vice president Francisco Jeronimo called Apple's replacement offer the "right first step" in containing reliability concerns. https://ground.news/article/ap...reen-problems_b19b3e _________________________
