DrDan, to each his own I say, but I have to tell you, you still haven't had a BLT. I don't know what that was that you described, but it was not a
BLT. Cool

This step is so often overlooked. Want the best roasted veggies or potatoes ever? Use bacon grease.

If you cook it in the air fryer you can get nearly 100% pure oil from the bottom. Worth it's weight in gold.

I can't stand sliced tomatoes. I've never had, and never will have, a BLT sandwich.

I never ate tomatoes in any form in my life, (except tomato soup and catchup) until I was in my late twenties and was served a BLT in a setting where I could not remove the tomato, nor refuse to eat as it would have been too obvious, so I took a bite.

After that, I could not get enough of a BLT, and that led to tomato on salads, hamburgers, other sandwiches and more as in various cooked dishes.

Try it one time, one bite, and feel free to spit it out if you do not like it.

Begin with very firm, not over ripe or "mealy" texture, and thin slices.

I will not argue that "bad tomatoes" make for disgusting experience.

Am I the only one who prefers a Roma tomato for BLT?

I have a few containers of "Bacon Up" in the fridge in case I ever run out, or need a "good bit" at at time, so I don't use up my grease from the bacon I cook as it has a bit more body to it.

But this stuff is good and very close to most rendered bacon grease.

I prefer tomatoes that aren’t too juicy for BLTs (or BTs in my case).

Preferably a good firm heirloom. Else a good roma. If a roma, I slice ‘em longitudinally, using only the center cuts for the sandwich.

Serious about crackers.

Yup, that's the way I like them. BLT, hold the L.

50-50 toss-up whether I spread the toast with Duke's or crunchy peanut butter. Either one is good (but not both on the same sandwich.)

Yes. It is actual bacon renderings.

If a garden fresh tomato is not available, yes. A Roma is about the only store bought tomato that has some flavor
