Done weeks and weeks ago, and paid a week ago.

The IRS was warning that, with all the identity theft, it was wise to file sooner, rather than later, so an impersonator has less chance to file in your place.

Of course, in our case, this year, they'd have been more than welcome, because we owed Razz

Fed & state are done & filed. My municipality wants me to file through some .gov agency now, that happens to want me to pay an estimated tax for first quarter next year as well. They will get a check when I feel so inclined, but not before the 15th.

A Perpetual Disappointment...

17th this year.

I'll not give them a penny sooner, either.

The state will get a huge check from me, but not before the 17th. The check will go in the mail no sooner.

For the first time in a long while, I was ready to do my taxes early even in January. Then I learned I had to wait until Feb 15 when my brokerage issues corrected 1099s.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I owe. Each year. Both the Feds and Arizona.

Checks go out the 17th. Each year I keep hoping they don't squander that money on unnecessary bullshit.

But they do....

Bastards.

Evil exists. You can not negotiate with, bribe or placate evil. You're not going to be able to have it sit down with Dr. Phil for an anger management session either.

Turbotax now has an option where you can file now, pay later via bank draft. Pretty cool and reduces theft risk as noted above but still lets ME pick the date to pay and not have to worry about forgetting to mail, dropping dead, etc.

Sure there's a theoretical risk of that data sitting on their server, but all the other keys to the kingdom are already there.
