The wife's been working on it. Today we got a couple of things we've been waiting for. She just realized that between her hearing aids and my cataract surgery and drugs, we can claim it.

Still gotta pay. But between my self employment income and some minor IRA withdrawl's, its pretty insignificant. She also discovered that her IRA went up more than we spent last year. I never look hard at my I bond increase because its not income till I cash them.

Its been a good year for us. Trump got into office, we're ahead financially, we're both kind of healthy.

Next year doesn't worry me, but I guess we need to figure out what the tax cut you folks are enjoying so much will do to us.

I pay every year but it is slowly going away, reduced from 5% by 1% per year till zero. Thank you legislature. For year 2017 it's 4%, 2018 will be 3% etc.

The deadline for employers to have W2's in the mail to employees is January 31st. Why are you still waiting until mid March?

How did you file? Today was the first day that the IRS was accepting returns. I e-filed today.

Just waiting on a 1099-B; should be here mid-February.

With the new tax law, I can't really use 2017 TurboTax to run any "what-if" kind of excursions for 2018, so I am building a very "rustic" Excel spreadsheet to help, estimating 2018 AGI, populated with the new tax brackets and accounting for the 15% LT capital gains and qualified dividends tax. I haven't had much luck with taxes working out so I pay just a little at the end of the year. Frown

Not yet. My tax guy is really good, but EVERYTHING has to be scanned and submitted online now. It's a minor PITA, to be honest..... Red Face

I had them ready to file on the 10th, but TurboTax wouldn't let me file til the 18th. I've since received both the "submitted" and "accepted" texts and emails from TurboTax.

I always set it up to pay the USG as late as permissible, so always need to send checks with the returns. So there is no rush.

Glad some are already done - the 'fun' is still a ways ahead for me. Still waiting on some forms, anyway.

Fed and Az submitted last Friday. Fed alreay accepted by the IRS. I have used an IRS Indentity Protection PIN for 4 years now. That helps. I was able to obtain some documents online without having to wait for the paper copies in the mail.

ETA, AZ accepted on Monday.

For me, it's because I always have to pay a little - so I'm in no hurry.
I'm not one of those get-it-in quick because I have a huge refund coming guys.
I can't see letting the Gov't have any of my money they aren't entitled to extort from me any sooner than I have to.

Done, e-filed using Taxact, direct deposit refunds already received from both Federal and State.

I prefer to get it out of the way quickly.
