@SIGnified, not really. This isn’t being done by idiots. (Regenerative is not organic) A farmer whom I greatly respect switched all on his own, 20+ years ago, without even knowing about regenerative ag, as a cost saving measure. General Mills, the USDA, etc are all encouraging the shift, because it works, and because chemical fertilizers are failing - at least in the MidWest, they seem to be losing efficacy. Most likely, long-term it will always lose its efficacy as it seems to harm soil structure. (Sorta have my own money in this. We have a trial regenerative pecan farm, which seems to be doing well. The peaches are doing incredibly well.) It requires a transition, but it’s about addressing that, now, when there’s time to adjust to regenerative ag having a, slightly, decreased yield, for a much reduced cost of production*, rather than waiting for the chemical fertilizers to completely fail. It also lets farmers out of the “cycle”. The best option for farmers and small processors, is finding a way to sell directly to consumers.

^^^ thank you. Appreciate you sharing. "Pacifism is a shifty doctrine under which a man accepts the benefits of the social group without being willing to pay - and claims a halo for his dishonesty." ~Robert A. Heinlein

Maybe I have a bad attitude, but impression is that taking a chainsaw to the list of things that the government sticks it’s nose in would be much better than hand more control over the government so they can protect us. I agree that sugary crap isn’t good for us. I don’t agree that it is a problem the government should solve.
