Turning, as in a lathe?

While she may have been working with wood for some time, to produce that on her first try means she has inherent talent. Smile

My ancient memory seems to recall that she was turning wood, as in a lathe.

And yes, her carving shows another very impressive talent!

Compliments to her!

Good job. Very talented.

Was it just me or did anyone else open this thread expecting to see a carved turkey?

My grandmother was a world class decorative miniature carver.
Biggest show around here these days is the Easton Waterfowl Festival in the fall. You all aren’t far and should really come up here and check it out. Let me know if you do.

Love that your grandmother was a carver of such a caliber! Would like to see if we can make that event in the fall one year. I understand a lot were cancelled this year. Just gives me more time to get better. Smile

That’s beautiful work.
I’m a bird fan...from Isabel Bloom figurines, to Metal Bird steel art, I’ve got it around my house.

Would love to see more of your work in the future.

Really nice work. I like the subject, also - chickadees are one of my favorite backyard birds.

I have used a rotary carver called “Micro Pro” by “Mastercarver”. In my first class we used it for fine relief carvings and I loved it then. It’s like a dentist’s drill but without the pain. Smile

Wow, nice work. I'm not the artistic man but I can appreciate it.
