It has been a long time coming. I bought a very well used 2003 4Runner when I got promoted to sergeant back in 2013. I now have 296k on the clock. Nothing wrong with it but it will need tires soon and maybe some brake module work. Anyway, my oldest daughter was just accepted to Indiana University and will need a vehicle soon. She had one here grandparents gave her but she got in some trouble with us and lost it as punishment for good. She has been doing much better. The vehicle she had is going to her younger sister who will be driving in less than a year. We decided we would let her buy my 4Runner for very cheap and she can pay us a very small monthly payment. That will hopefully giver some ownership and motivation to keep doing well. Anyway, the Mrs. and I decided it was time for me to finally get a Tacoma like I have always wanted. I found one this Tuesday in Indianapolis so my buddy drove me up there as we both took the day off. What a pal! Well, it was a 2012 Tacoma with 98k. Double cab 4wd. It had some issues but the rust underneath was just too much to commit to buying so I left empty handed. We went through Bloomington as they had another 2012 double cab 4wd. It had 127k a little less money. I drove it and just wasn’t impressed. It also had a leak underneath. So, home we went. My wife couldn’t believe I restrained myself and came home with nothing. Then, I found the one pictured below but it’s in West Chester, OH. Obviously, it’s a terrible time to buy a truck much less a used one. This one is the access cab. We talked about it and I don’t really need a double cab although it would be nice. It has jump seats and the access cab gives me the longer bed, which I like. It is 2016 SR5 with 113k. It’s also 4wd with a bed cover. New tires. I had them take pics of underneath and it looks very clean. Plus, it’s IU red. I’ve been waiting a long time to get something nice. So, my dad is driving up from Paducah in the morning and taking me there since I am not trading anything I need a ride. They will hold the truck as long as I’m on the road headed there. So, I’m sweating bullets they don’t sell it today. They want $1,000 to hold it non refundable. My wife doesn’t like that so we aren’t giving them that. I’m trying keep my excitement down until I’m there and everything checks out and it’s hopefully mine…or the banks. Anyway, I just wanted to share with my brethren here. I just hope it works out! Thank you for reading.

I would balk at $1,000 NONREFUNDABLE to hold it a day or two. I would proceed with caution. ... stirred anti-clockwise.

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but unless you plan on never having more than two people in that truck, it'd be a hard pass on the access cab.

We thought about that and if I ever have anyone with me it’s only one person. If I need to carry more we have a van and the girls will have SUVs.

Where did you buy it from? I grew up in West Chester. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

I suggest grabbing lunch at The Back Porch Saloon just south of there. Though it has likely been 15 years since I have been there. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. Not really from Vienna |
Check the reviews of GTX Auto Group? You were wise not to give them a nonrefundable deposit. Go over that pickup with a fine tooth comb.

It looks good in the picture… I hope it checks out. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

I will do that, thanks Black. I have spent this evening reading reviews. Many about the place and my salesman are very favorable. I feel better about it. Thanks guys

I went with the access cab. If I wanted to haul people, I would have gotten a car. If I NEED to, four can fit just fine for a trip. The crew cab is longer (for garage fit), 2-3k pricier, and typically has a shorter bed. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. I know my nine year old kiddo will fine in the back from time to time. Can a grown man fit back there? I’m like you, I don’t often have more than one passenger and I really like having the longer bed.

If you have considered the limited people capacity, and want the enhanced bed capacity, I think you’re good. I have driven an SUV for the last 20 years because I haul people more than stuff. Plus, I purchased a small trailer that lets me haul stuff when needed. I had two standard cab pickups before that, and was frequently limited by the number of people I could fit. So, with a minivan as your wife’s vehicle (we have one, too), I think you’re well covered for an extended cab pickup. And if you can get a nice Taco, I (and my 4Runner) approve Peter

Back Porch is still there and just as good as you remember. The blackened fish sandwich and pork tenderloin are great.

+++ The Back Porch. I spent a lot of time in Hamilton (Hamilton!) and ate there often. Curious? How are you handling sales tax? I avoided buying a vehicle in Wisconsin once becauase of the hassle with sales taxes in both Michigan and Wisconsin. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

OH tax is 5.5 I believe. Indiana is 7. I believe when I register the truck here I’ll have to pay the difference. I plan on asking about that.

Lol, how do you think resale compares between the access cab and crew cab? You think that "$2k-$3k savings" pays off in the long run? And no one above the age of five is going to be comfortable back there much past the mailbox. Hell, the back of a club cab sucks for an adult over about 5'-9" for very far.
