Good Lord that might as well have been in a different timeline it was so long ago and I am so very different now. I’ve generally had good experiences but I try to be polite and friendly as I would in real life. I don’t agree with everything here but it’s not my house and what I do agree with FAR outweighs what I don’t. Para has done me a solid on an occasion or two and I really appreciate it. I still don’t really understand how that whole CDNN thing spiraled out of control, and unitards…..I would prefer a different color. ![]() Take Care, Shoot Safe, Chris

Holy wow it's been a long time. I don't remember a lot of details but I remember my first in the new members section and was surprised at how many members welcomed me. I made a point for at least a decade to make sure I welcomed new members in a similar way. It wasn't long after I joined we had a local Sig Shoot. I had a great time and it inspired me to organize one years later. I was guided to this forum by a good friend Vero.We had been shooting for years in my basement range.went to several get together shoots. Most of my time was in reloading section and that hobby kept me broke buying supplies, and guns. I had many people come and stay in my home and allow my little bit of shooting skill to rub off on them,I had several cookouts of folks around Atlanta area attend.I met lots of members,as far away as California,Texas, Florida and several other states plus two countries. I was always treated well on this forum, had very few cross words with anyone, Got my cut early in my post count by Para as I was admiring my rescue dogs from the pound. [Thank you James Townsend]I really miss that man. Our game was to hang playing cards on a string and cut them when they turned sideways, hit the face and you lost the match In closing I wish to thank Para for a wonderful well run place to hang out.

I don't recall any friction early on. I ran afoul of Para once, but that was a long time ago. Para also booted a fellow that was saying alot of dump things about the M4 from a thread I was in.

I was looking for a P220 and someone told me to check out SIGforum. So I did... and loved it. I ended up buying a P220 from a forum member: my first Sig! I liked it so much that that I started posting lots of stuff. This was during the early days of the Obama administration, so I was pretty freaked out about that. At one point I was posting so many different topics that I got an email from Para telling me that my threads were dominating the front page and that I should cool it. This is the best little corner of the internet. Thank you, Para. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

I'm not sure, it's been nearly 20 years. But I seem to remember it was around the time I bought a CPO from Ordnance Outsellers, a P229 in .40 S&W. _____________

At one point I had to use the "Shroud the member" feature. Or what ever it's called, There were five or six members that would comment unkindly on my threads. Not constructively, just mean. This went on for two or three months. My angst dissipated after a few weeks . I eventually took two off of the ignore list . Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. I joined here and several other gun forums around the same time. Forums in general were a new thing to me then. A few weeks earlier I purchased my first handgun that was practical for carrying, known back then as a Canadian P220 in 9mm and was looking for a little more information. All the forums had a different feel and I learned to tread lightly until I figured it out. Now this is the main one I visit and it feels a bit like home in the world of forums. I’ve conversed with a few and bought a couple of things but have yet to meet anyone in person. There have been a few dust ups that I’ve avoided but observed and so far seem to have avoided the wrath of management and others. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Drill Here, Drill Now![]() |
When I moved to Houston the first time, I went to the gun range and rented every 40 S&W they had. I determined that the G22 was going to be my 1st gun. I went to a large gun store with 3 locations, and then let the damn salesman talk me out of the G22 because it didn't have a safety. He talked me into buying the brand new 40 S&W Browning, but little did I know there was no aftermarket at all to buy magazines, holsters, better sights, etc. I took it to the range 4 weekends in a row, and after 1000 rounds the damn thing was 50/50 on whether it would slide lock on an empty magazine. I recalled seeing somewhere that the Secret Service carried Sig Sauer handguns so I thought if it's good enough for them it's good enough for me. I figured there would be a forum for Sig Sauer so I googled it which is how I found Sigforum. My first post was in the "Sig Pistols" subforum and I asked which 40 S&W Sig Sauer to buy. Everyone was super helpful and overwhelmingly recommended the P229 as a do everything gun (night stand, concealed carry, range, etc) with good aftermarket support for holsters, magazines, sights, etc. I don't recall Para participating in the thread, but the impression was everyone was very knowledgeable and helpful. Next weekend, I gave the Browning another chance with 200 rounds at the range and the damned thing still wouldn't reliably slide lock on an empty. I drove straight from the range to Tomball Pawn where I traded the Browning for a brand new P229 + some cash. I was too intimidated by the lounge to post so I stuck to the Pistols and Rifle subforums. The first thread I recall Para's involvement was when I posted one night about my growing "collection" of firearms. I had the aforementioned P229, a S&W 617, and a Remington 870 Marine Magnum. Overnight, somebody chose to post while drunk and called me all kinds of names for being "rich." The next day, Para came down on the drunkard like a ton of bricks. I was a member of the Smith & Wesson forum when Para was running that. He left and I just migrated over here a while latter. Para runs a tight ship and I like that. Dropped in here years ago to bitch about a Sig 556, in hopes someone from Sig would read it and take it as a suggestion. I was truly ignorant of online civility. Got initiated, and also welcomed. Learned to read thru complete threads, and the rules eventually showed themselves to me. There is no other online profile for me and I could not be happier about that. It's been a minute. I was 21 and had recently bought my first gun, a Beretta 92. I had joined the Beretta Forum and was enjoying life over there, but my buddies were all Sig guys and introduced me to this place. I started lurking and quickly realized that I preferred the culture over here and the content was more entertaining. I eventually joined, but didn't post much for the first few years. I gradually got more involved, and have just kinda been here ever since.

I dropped in here and learned a few things quickly. DO NOT USE CAP LOCKS IN THE TITLE, Didn’t realize it was yelling. I learned my Zombie Apocalypse set up was shit… I only got slapped by Para once for a stupid joke that I made and got suspended for a week. Oh yeah, for the most part the Forum doesn’t like EVs ![]() Early on Para took pity on this FNG when he was giving out cuts for answering questions. My answer to what was the gun that was used to blow the pot smoke through in the movie Platoon. I answered “a rifle”. He said that he wanted to know what the rifle was. He gave me the cut anyway. Thanks Para. ----------------------------------- Get your guns b4 the Dems take them away Sig P-229 Sig P-220 Combat
