I Deal In Lead |
Never thought I'd see this happen. https://www.sciencealert.com/p...es-inside-hot-plasma But impressively, last year, researchers from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California and the University of Rochester in New York managed it inside hot swarms of charged particles, fine-tuning the speed of light waves within plasma to anywhere from around one-tenth of light's usual vacuum speed to more than 30 percent faster.

That article was a bit above my science level but interesting they can achieve this. When I lived in Livermore I knew a handful of guys that worked at the lab. Not sure if still true but that town has biggest per capita of Phd residents due to the lab.

So they got light to travel faster than light? That just ain't natural I tell ya! _____________________________ 'I'm pretty fly for a white guy'.

So the big question, what does this all mean? The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. For the moment, not much. It doesn't mean that we'll soon be traveling through space at warp speed- yet.

Let me see if I can help. This quote from the article is the key.
So photons, which have no mass, can join together into waves of nothing which yanking each others’ photonic cranks pulls the waves, (not the photons!) of nothing faster than the speed of of photonic light, as expressed under certain conditions. See, it’s really simple. Nice is overrated "It's every freedom-loving individual's duty to lie to the government." Airsoftguy, June 29, 2018

You still haven’t. This is a case of a poor translation of a complicated scientific concept into layman’s terms. What they did didn’t make any photons move faster than C and can’t be used to transmit information faster than C. They made the interference peak between two waves move faster than C. What they did is more like if you (standing on the earth) swept a very powerful laser pointer very quickly across the moon. You could make the position of the dot swipe across the moon faster than C, but no actual thing is moving faster than C and information isn’t being transmitted faster than C.

For decades, they have discovered something does travel faster than the speed of light. it's based on splitting a particle and the two halves are somehow connected in that when you flip one, the other one flips to correspond instantaneously no matter the distance the two have traveled away from each other. The progress is such that they are working on making this principle the basis for a network. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

^^^^^^^ Quantum entanglement. Personally, I doubt that it’ll ever prove to be a practical means of faster-than-light communication. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_entanglement Serious about crackers

What they're "working on" is justifying their jobs and paycheck, and counting on people not comprehending this gobbledygook. Oh, just look at how brilliant they are. This generation will be the one to figure out all the mysteries of the Universe. This is nothing new. Three card monte has been around for a very long time. As an example- Dark Matter. Astrophysicists attempted to determine the total mass of the Universe and attempted to explain the expansion of the Universe, and when their numbers didn't add up, what did they do? Did they state the truth, which is that we simply do not have the answer? No, they plugged in a factor to their equation and called it "Dark Matter". We can't see it, but it must be there, because a group of scientists on a little blue rock in the vast emptiness added up some numbers. Fucking ridiculous, and they actually get away with this con game. If these government-funded charlatans had any real clue, they would acknowledge just how very ignorant we are, and they would acknowledge that theories of the past get proven wrong all the time, and that includes the double-talking bullshit these con artists are putting out. "What have you done recently to justify your paycheck?" WE WENT FASTER THAN THE SPEED OF LIGHT!!!!! FFS

Void Where Prohibited |
Yup. Dark matter and dark energy just show how much is lacking in their knowledge and calculations. "If Gun Control worked, Chicago would look like Mayberry, not Thunderdome" - Cam Edwards

Another example is the Hubble Deep Field. Until those exposures were made astrophysicists considered that spot just a patch of dark sky. But hey, whadda ya know? Oooh, look, there's some of that "dark matter" we've been missing. It ain't so dark, but... The JWST will further reveal our ignorance. Hell, I think it has done so already. We need to stop thinking ourselves so very special. We need to stop believing that we are fundamentally smarter than previous generations of humans. We need scientsts who are honest with us and with themselves. We need humility.
