The last time I wore a mask was when I went for my annual physical in January, and I rarely wore one before that.

We're pretty much back in the sticks here. In fact, there's only one traffic light in the whole county. Although some local businesses had signs on their doors saying you needed a mask, I don't know of a single time that anyone not wearing a mask was confronted. Some people wore masks, most didn't, but everybody knew enough to stay out of others business. There are a few civilised places left.

walked into a local post office a few days ago to drop some packages in the APC,

guy using the machine next to the hopper didn't seem to care that I did not have a mask,

a few hens behind him (waiting for him to finish) gave me the death dagger stare,

my packages were pre paid, so don't think they were pissy due to me chunking stuff in the hopper,

they also took a few steps back when I walked by, and I had taken a shower that day

Walmart says fully vaccinated employees can go without masks starting Tuesday

CHICAGO (Reuters) -Walmart said on Friday that fully vaccinated employees will not need to wear a mask at work starting Tuesday, following the latest guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The world's largest retailer said in an internal memo to U.S. stores, Sam’s Clubs and supply chain facilities that unvaccinated workers must still wear face coverings. Vaccinated customers and Sam's Club members will be allowed to shop without a mask starting Friday.

The move makes Walmart the first major retailer to walk back its mandatory mask policy after the CDC on Thursday advised that fully vaccinated people do not need to wear masks outdoors and can avoid wearing them indoors in most places.

Of all the restrictions, the one I wouldn't mind keeping in place is the social distancing. If everybody would just stay the hell away from me I'd be happy.Smile

That's good to see. It'll help alot of people, but it makes no difference to me.

The last time I was AT a Walmart was March or April of last year. They were only using one entrance & there was a line waiting to get in. Nope, nope, nope! Ain't no way in hell I'm ever waiting in line to get in a Walmart, and we got what we wanted elsewhere.

The nearest Walmart, Lowes, chain restaurants, etc are 35 miles away from me, and I can't think of a single reason why I should go to any of them again. Since I've had absolutely no problem obtaining whatever I need from local businesses, (hardwares, lumber yards, restaurants, groceries, etc), this past year, I'm going to continue to support them.

I went to the Post Office the other day with no mask and had no problems. I interacted with the postal workers and they were cool with it. But this was in the free territory of Oklahoma.
Same thing at Reasors and the employees were ecstatic to not have to wear a mask.

Yep, I saw a guy driving a convertible Vette with the top down and mask on. Also saw a sign company bucket truck with a guy up in a bucket fixing a sign wearing one. People are plain nuts.

For a lot of people, wearing a mask has been viewed as a virtue signal and not wearing one as rebellious. Now it will flip 180 degrees - people without masks are the virtuously vaccinated and those with them are anti-vax, anti-science or both.

I couldn’t care less what anyone does. There are rational arguments for taking various precautions, or not, and I don’t know others’ situations, but the politicization drives me crazy. Do your thing and show others the same courtesy.

I watched a very open leftist coworker get a written reprimand yesterday for violating the company mask/distancing policy when vaccinated workers are cleared to be unmasked.

He has been openly bashing the anti-mask/vax employees for being right wing nutters. I say their body, their choice and he starts ranting about those nutjobs are endangering his daughter.
The irony was we were discussing whether it was their right to choose to comply or not when HR came in.

The hypocrite hasn't even had the first dose.

The irony was delicious. As a supervisor, I could not laugh AT him openly. I had to go back in my office and laugh loud enough to be heard. through the door. He got the fascism he demanded toward the other employees.

My favorite from last year was some lady pulled up next to me at a light, double masks on plus a face shield. Must have been some really nasty shit INSIDE her car. Roll Eyes

At some point -- probably soon -- people are just going to start lying to their employers about their "shot status" in order to get back to normal and avoid hassle. That, of course, will open up another door for people to want to get into other people's business. Roll Eyes

God bless America.

Well, here in California 2.0 (Nevada) Sisolak said that he would follow the CDC reccs, but I've still had to wear a mask when going to the grocery store. Good to hear about Walmart.

Governor DeWine, in his infinite wisdom, has decided Ohio should open up finally.
I have a few places I go that never followed his "mandates" and I'm glad they didn't.
Some people wore masks and most didn't. Personal freedom and risk assessment.

I had my vax card on a trade show lanyard and wearing it around my neck at the store.

When I got to the cashier I smacked it up to her shield and said Multipass.

Walmart this AM was interesting: NO SIGNS advising of masks as last week; while 90% shoppers retained their mask, 100% employees did so. I was without, and never challenged, either by doorkeeper, the pharmacy or various anybody else.

Interesting gawks from some of the crowd though.

This AM in another smaller regional farm store,
signs aplenty, and a basket at the front door with sign warning "May" be unable to shop with a basket of fresh masks. I asked the cashier if required, her response as "It's voluntary" so I didn't take one. About 30% shoppers were without masks, and almost gave a little wave with their smile as we passed, often closer than 6'.

Well I walked in there yesterday without one, and noticed a couple of other like-minded souls in there doing the same. No one said a word to me and they sure didn't ask to see any papers either.

If Wally World gets rid of their mask policy, the rest will follow shortly. In a world where most people/institutions are followers, it just takes a few brave souls to lead and the rest will mindlessly follow. I don't see a lot of retail businesses paying someone to "check papers" either, so this whole idea of the unvaccinated must still wear masks is a nonstarter.
