also,
If she will be making additional Quilts of valor,

there are quilters all over the U.S. that will quilt the finished product for free if she/they can get recognition on the final product.

might save her between $150.00 and $700.00.

we looked in to people that offer free material ,
but the three we found only offered the least expensive and unacceptable fabrics.

My Grandmother was a quilter, and she did beautiful work. Her stitches looked like they had been done with a machine, but were all done by hand. I have a few of her quilts.

That quilt is beautiful, and I know you will cherish it forever......what a great gift of PURE LOVE!!

That's a nice one.

My mother-in-law quilts.

Enters them in the state fair. Always wins ribbons to acknowledge her work when enters.

Yours would be a worthy entry, it seems, if for no other reason than its patriotic fervor and witness for America.

Big Grin
Now the new sewing machines offer four or five stitches that are supposed to look like hand stitching

Wow, it is beautiful. She did an amazing job on it. So good, I wouldn't want to use it as a quilt!

Thanks for all the comments - I am going to pass them along to her! I have actually been using it every night and it has kept me warm.

Sorry for ghosting the thread for a bit, I was moving Sunday and started a new job on Monday and it's been a bit hectic!

I am not sure exactly how long it took her, my best guess is at least 2-3 months.

I'm now temporarily living the life of a hipster. Living downtown in a 600 sq ft studio apartment directly above a tacqueria! Interesting change from life on the farm Big Grin (This is whole other thread, I'll have to post when I get settled in a bit)

She could build BamaJeepster a fire and he'd be warm for a night.
But she made him a quilt so he'd be warm for a lifetime...or loved.

Very nice and a lot of work. My mother quilted in her spare time. I will have to check on what is left since my Aunt took things out of the house when my father was in ALF.

Thanks David! I got a reminder on my phone last night and posted about how this is still the nicest gift I have ever received. I have it on a quilt rack in my office so I can see it and enjoy it every single day!
