My wife and I are meeting my brother and his wife in Phoenix in early April before starting a group tour to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. We'll be in Phoenix all day on Saturday. Any recommendations for things to do or see?

If you are downtown ypu are coming at the start of baseball season and our AZ D--Backs are looking shitty as ever this year!

Depending on transportation and location you could head to Old Town Scottsdale or Tempe Town Lake

Desert Botanical Garden is pretty cool as is the Heard Museum.

There are some good urban hikes but if you are heading north then you will get enough hiking up there.

We also have Wildlife World Zoo where Jaguars try to eat stupid women!

Hike up Saddleback mountain. Enjoyed that last time I was there on my one free day.

Drive around on the surface streets. There is an historic area of Phoenix but it dates, I think, only to about 1930. DBG, mentioned, and very nice place. Casa Reynoso at Mill and Southern for their Green Burro enchilada-style (skip the rice and beans, no need to fill up).

Walk around the square in downtown Phoenix for 20 minutes. Just so you can cross it off the list. Hey, get to the Butte near ASU at 6am and slowly, carefully, follow the walkers and joggers to the top. Bring water! Go somewhere and get out and walk. Breathe the air.

Bring water everywhere and keep drinking it. Put a case of bottles in the car. Recycle.

Tempe Mission Palms is a nice place to stay. Next to the Butte, very close to DBG, close to surface streets into downtown Phoenix. Close to lots of Mexican restaurants.

I found a new one last visit. Waiting for SubiWorx to do their thing on my '08 Impreza, I walked, "It's just ten minutes that way", the mechanic told me. More like a long mile in 50˙ drizzle with no coat and hat, but worth it. Went back a second time.

Get the pork anything. Chargrilled.

Where will you be staying in Phoenix? Or are you just flying in and renting a car? This place is big, so it would help us to keep you from spending most of the time in the car...

If you're into cars check out the Penske Museum at 101 and Scottsdale Road. It's in the middle of his dealership complex there and admission is free. My daughter actually liked wandering around in the back lot amongst Aston Martins, Ferraris, Bentleys and Maserattis more than the museum itself.

If you're into motorcycles, check out Buddy Stubbs Harley Davidson on Cave Creek Road in north Phoenix. Check their website for schedules, on weekend he opens up his own private museum for tours. Over 100 motorcycles from WWI one lung Harleys up to modern day Ducattis.

My daughter can deflate your daughter's soccer ball.

Phoenix ain't got shit anymore. All of the good steak houses have long been sold off and gone a long time ago. 50yrs ago this place was rocking with great food and night life. Now it's overcrouded with chain reasturants and mexican food on every corner. Like captain127 said, go to Scottsdale gun club and rent some full auto and enjoy. Been a Red White and Blue member there since it opened in 2004

How about the Bolin Memorial Park? They have a lot of interesting USS Arizona artifacts including a restored 16" barrel on display.

I’d vote for a visit to Scottsdale for a day trip. If you’re looking for some cowboy boots then stop in to Saba's Western Wear. Ask for Jerry Hill, he knows his boots.

April is baseball season, if it were me I'd look to see if the Diamondbacks were in town and if they were I'd catch a game.
