I remember taking my grandfather to see “Perfect Storm.” It actually shocked him. He was a fisherman his entire life and never went to the movies. He saw people die out on the ocean. He told me how much the movie reminded him of things and told me some crazy stories of what he experienced. NRA Benefactor Life Member

If you have an Xscape theater in your area - they are worth seeing a movie in. Their "Xtreme" theaters in particular. Incredible picture and sound quality. Seats almost too comfortable, due to fear of falling asleep. https://www.xscapetheatres.com/ -------------------- I like Sigs and HK's, and maybe Glocks

My thoughts exactly. But after considering four scenarios inside a large ,dark room with three dozen other people, with isolated exits, The only protective structure is a flimsy ass seat back. It's a no win situation, the only thing scarier would be Going up or down a stair well With a shooter at the other end If I could get off a shot or four, the shooter would for sure throw some in my general direction And those in my general vicinity. I know my limitations. Just as well I stay out of those places all together. Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Neck Ties, Hats and ammo brass, Never ,ever touch'em w/o asking first

First World problems. I watched a kung fu flick dubbed into Portuguese projected on a sheet hung in a jungle lodge in Brazil. No popcorn, lots of bugs, generator was noisy. Good times.

Pre-Rona we enjoyed those new recliner seats at the theater. In the past 3 years I think Top Gun was about the only time we went back. There’s just nothing to see. It did appear a lot of cleaning took place though as the fancy vinyl on the new seats looked like crap even in the worst seats.

I haven't been to a theater in years. I can remember about 3 times when I did go that were actually memorable. One was 2001 A Space Odyssey when I was about 11. Next was the original Star Wars some 45 years ago now - when I left the building I still felt like I was flying down the trench. The third was Platoon. I got there a few minutes late for that one and had to sit down front. The huge firefight at the end was incredible to watch that close up, I had to keep turn my head left and right to take it all in.

I'll bet it's been at least 20 years since I've been to a theater. The only movies that I really wanted to see since then were Zero Dark Thirty, (the Bin Laden raid), and Thirteen Hours, (the story of Bengazi.) I waited until they came out on DVD. ------------------------------------------------ "It's hard to imagine a more stupid or dangerous way of making decisions, than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong." Fuck the theater. Used to be a great love of mine. People ruined it. Smartphones and ADHD. Every film I went to, and I’d go often, from 2017-2019 I’d have smartphone use next to me, and ADHD. I had enough in April of 2019 and said fuck this, I’ve had it. Each time I’d leave, get an usher, then go see the manager to get my free pass replacement. The dude knew me by name. He’d say “again” and I’d say yup. I’d hand him my ticket and say “the two seats to the left” or right or whatever. Folk cannot handle putting away the pacifier for 2 hours and young folk have a fidgeting problem. I walked out of that theater in April of 2019 and said “never again”. I then spent the next 2 months researching and picking out 11 JBL’s, 2 Subs, a new AVR to run them all and the right FALD panel that would do inky blacks. FF to June/July and it was complete and worth all the money I spent which I finally paid off 2 years later in 2021. I will never go back, even if it’s free. Fuck that place. Now the gym is getting like the theater. I give it another year before I can’t take it any longer and leave for good. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

We took the whole family to see Maverick in the theater. It was a fantastic experience. That being said, I won’t really ever do that again probably. Mostly because I can’t trust movies these days. I would not be surprised one bit to find out that the latest Disney movie had some Alphabet Representation kid waving his CGI dong around on the screen. “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it.”—H.L. I don't think movie theaters are ever coming back in the sense that we knew them pre-March 2020 and even then they were starting to go downhill. Leaving a wedding rehearsal dinner Friday night at 8:30 pm in King of Prussia, PA which is 18 miles from Philadelphia and site of the second largest mall in the entire USA, the IMAX theater there was practically deserted. It was kind of shocking to me as you used to see that same theater with every space filled on a Friday night at that time. People have given up on theaters and streaming is king now. It would help if they actually made a movie WORTH seeing these days too instead of all this woke bullshit and endless CGI-fest superhero movies.

If there something worthwhile seeing, and it demanded the big screen and sound I'd consider it. This hasn't come around in a while. At least to my taste. I do like the Movie-Tavern experience though, with nice recliners and snacks. Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves. -D.H. Lawrence

The last time we went to a theater was when we took the grandkids to the IMAX to see the animated Scrooge movie when it came out years ago at Christmas time in 3D. It was hilarious watching the kids reaching out to the characters, like they could touch them. Our youngest grandkid is 20 years old now, so it's been a while. ------------------------------------------------ "It's hard to imagine a more stupid or dangerous way of making decisions, than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong." Another RKBA-oriented forum I’m on is arranging a private screening of Cocaine Bear. Seems a good enough reason to go to the movies. -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A
