I’m sure the vast majority of people are going to the effort to install the patches, which going previous efforts might only work for a while and may not even give the correct tally.

Silly me they would never do that for other reasons. I’m sure it’s to build a “positive platform” where ideas they don’t like are not discouraged or their support concealed. Nah they are owned by Google so they wouldn’t ever do anything shady or for ideological reasons.

YouTube dislikes are sent to the content creator who alone can view them (well the creator and the platform owners), I see no way this could be abused by those with an agenda who could theoretically use bots and willing troll armies to inundate those with the “wrong ideas” and discourage that kind of content.

Also consider the impact it can have to suppress populist support for certain issues on their platform. It looks like a small move on YouTube’s part done for benevolent reasons to stop bullying but if we’re being honest the people changing the platform are the biggest bullies and are taking intolerance to new levels.

The Emergency Powers Act is announced after Biden called Trudeau. I sure would like to see the transcript of that call. I would bet Biden wants Trudeau to use all means to stop the protest in Canada so the drivers in the US think twice about forming here. I can imagine Biden egging Trudeau on saying-Come on man, you don’t want to look like a little pussy let me hold your coat for ya.

WH Press release

Today President Biden spoke with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada to discuss the ongoing blockade of key bridges and crossings between the United States and Canada, including Detroit/Windsor, Sweetwater/Coutts, and Pembina/Emerson. The two leaders agreed that the actions of the individuals who are obstructing travel and commerce between our two countries are having significant direct impacts on citizens’ lives and livelihoods. The President expressed his concern that U.S. companies and workers are experiencing serious effects, including slowdowns in production, shortened work hours, and plant closures. The Prime Minister promised quick action in enforcing the law, and the President thanked him for the steps he and other Canadian authorities are taking to restore the open passage of bridges to the United States. In turn, the Prime Minister thanked the President and his administration, the Governor of Michigan, and US officials for all of the assistance that the United States is providing to resolve this disruption. The two leaders agreed to stay in close touch in the days ahead to ensure that the free flow of traffic is restored at these vital transit points.

‘These Very Powers … Are Why We Are Here’: Canadian Protesters ‘Dig Their Heels In’ Against Trudeau’s Crackdown

Protesters during a demonstration near Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022. The premier of Canada's biggest province declared a state of emergency, warning protesters choking off traffic at a key U.S. border crossing and causing gridlock in Canada's capital they face stiff punishment if they don't leave. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Monday announcement invoking the Emergencies Act to break a weeks-long protest in Ottawa has only served to inspire more resistance, one protest organizer told The Daily Wire.

The Freedom Convoy, a loose coalition of truckers protesting vaccine mandates and other COVID-19 restrictions, rolled into Ottawa in late January and has camped downtown since. The protesters have congested parts of the city around Canada’s seat of government on Parliament Hill while demanding a loosening of COVID-19 restrictions. So far, Trudeau has refused to meet with the truckers, instead employing increasingly hard-nosed political and legal tactics to try and break the protest.

David Paisley says he has been protesting for weeks now and, as a street captain, helps organize protesters and direct those who wish to support the cause with funds, goods, or services. Paisley told The Daily Wire that Trudeau’s announcement, which made headlines across major news organizations in the U.S. and Canada, went off barely noticed by the protesters on the ground.

“No one really cares about any new announcement. I mean the police have been breaking the law long before any emergency power. They were taking our fuel away. They were arresting people for purely having jerry cans or having empty tanks of fuel,” he said.

“They’ve already been doing these ‘emergency powers’ and all it does is make people dig their heels in more,” Paisley added. “The irony … is that these very powers and threats are why we are here.”

Trudeau announced in a press conference Monday afternoon that he was authorizing the federal government’s use of the Emergencies Act, a law passed in the late 1980s to take the place of the War Measures Act. The act strengthens Canadian law enforcements’ ability to fine and imprison violators and ensures the operation of “essential services” such as towing rigs, Trudeau said during his press conference. It also empowers banks and financial institutions to freeze the accounts of any person or business suspected of being involved with an “illegal blockade.”

Paisley said that the protest would continue despite frozen bank accounts or impounded trucks until every protester is cuffed and thrown in prison.

“[The Trudeau government] underestimated the determination and the intelligence of those here, and so everyone still here on the ground, they’re basically willing to give their lives for this – peacefully of course,” Paisley said.

“They’re prepared to drain every last dollar, even from frozen bank accounts,” he added later.

The truckers in Ottawa have received wave after wave of support in the form of cash funds, food, fuel, letters, and even a free laundry service by two ladies who walk Paisley’s street every day collecting clothes. The trucker said he received word on Monday from two men who wanted to deliver hundreds of liters of extra diesel fuel for the convoy.

“You come and sit in the driver’s seat for a few hours and you’ll be able to fill up your wallet again. It’s incredible. People are just handing you fifties, hundreds, packs of hundreds. A friend of mine received a Bible and when he opened it up it had 500 cash inside the bible,” Paisley said.

“The more the government tries to stomp this out, the more and more it causes people to rise up and say ‘this is wrong, and I side with these truckers,’” he said. “These steps from the government have simply hardened the determination of the great men and women down here, so I’m not really concerned at all. We’ll have lots of new friends when we all get tossed in prison together.”

Hours before Trudeau announced the EPA, GiveSendGo was hacked.
Rebel news Give Send Go Hacked

Crowdfunding platform GiveSendGo hacked hours ahead of Trudeau's Emergencies Act declaration
The database, which was first made available on Google Docs, included real names, personal emails, locations, and assorted details of donors who lent their support to the ongoing protests now deemed illegal by the Trudeau government.

The hacked database, containing the details of 92,845 donors, is no longer available, but Rebel News was able to review a copy of the data before it was pulled by Google.

‘Oil On A Raging Fire’: Reporter Presses Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau After He Announces Crackdown

A reporter pressed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau after he announced he would invoke the Emergencies Act in response to Canadians protesting their country’s COVID-19 vaccination mandates.

“At least one other premier said that invoking this act is like putting oil on a raging fire, words along those lines,” the reporter said. “Do you think you’re inflaming the situation even more by invoking this?”

“My focus is on Canadians who have had a long two years,” Trudeau replied. “We’ve been through a pandemic, we’ve lost loved ones. We’ve seen businesses struggle, we’ve lost jobs and just want this to be over.”

“For those people who disagree with the measures that governments put in place to keep Canadians safe, to ensure that we would make it through this pandemic better than many of our peer countries,” Trudeau continued. “Those people have gone from protesting and disagreeing with those measures to limiting and blocking the freedoms of their fellow citizens. Hurting jobs, hurting lives and livelihoods, endangering public safety, and weakening our country not just right now, but for times to come in the eyes of our most important trading partners.”

Now he's afraid of hurting jobs.... seriously?

Justin "Castreau" Trudeau: You can end this anytime you want. End the mandates.

And as more of these police videos and resignations occur, and protestors increase in numbers and volume, the RCMP had better begin to think long and hard how closely they want to hitch their wagon to this failed child.

And as for the Canadian banks dealing with this child and his new EPA, they might want to tread very carefully as any actions they take to cut off funds and freeze accounts could result in some huge lawsuits being files against them. The best course of action for the banks would be to sit this one out.

I thought the Canadian military already told him to pound sand: "we're not a police force."

Hackers leak names of ‘Freedom Convoy’ donors after GiveSendGo breach

Zack Whittaker
@zackwhittaker / 8:08 AM MST•February 14, 2022

A leak site says it has received a cache of information, including about donors to the Ottawa truckers’ Freedom Convoy protest, after fundraising site GiveSendGo was targeted by hackers overnight.

On Monday, GiveSendGo’s website said it was “under maintenance,” hours after the site was hijacked and redirected to a page believed to be controlled by the hackers, which no longer loads. The redirected page condemned the truckers who descended on Canada’s capital to oppose mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations, causing widespread disruption to traffic and trade for more than a week.

The page also contained a link to a file containing tens of thousands of records of what was described as “raw donation data” about those who donated to the Freedom Convoy.

A short time later, nonprofit leak site Distributed Denial of Secrets said it had received 30 megabytes of donor information from GiveSendGo, including self-reported names, email addresses, ZIP codes and IP addresses.

Distributed Denial of Secrets, a site known for hosting sets of leaked data involving far-right groups, said that the data would only be provided to researchers and journalists.

GiveSendGo co-founder Jacob Wells did not respond to a request for comment.

The breach is separate from an earlier security lapse, in which GiveSendGo left exposed to the internet an Amazon-hosted S3 bucket storing over a thousand identity documents, according to journalist Mikael Thalen, who first reported the data breach overnight.

The Boston, Massachusetts-based GiveSendGo became the primary donation service for the “Freedom Convoy” last month after GoFundMe halted the crowdsourcing campaign and froze millions of dollars in donations, citing police reports of violence across Ottawa. Over the weekend, a Canadian court issued an order halting access to the funds collected by GiveSendGo, which the company said it would defy.

Earlier in the month, the protesters raised more than $8 million for the Freedom Convoy.

Updated to clarify that the data given to Distributed Denial of Secrets was for the Freedom Convoy data, not every campaign.

======

an excerpt from a different article on the same site:

Donation site for Ottawa truckers’ ‘Freedom Convoy’ protest exposed donors’ data

The donation site used by truckers in Ottawa who are currently protesting against national vaccine mandates has fixed a security lapse that exposed passports and driver licenses of donors.

Any person or organization that openly assists any group, individual or cause that doesn't fit the progressive narrative will be targeted.

If you are a company like GiveSendGo and decide to participate in things like this you better get your shit together because the techies in the dark space of the interwebs will come for you, lock stock and barrel.

GiveSendGo should have anticipated hacking attacks were going to happen
