If you have hundreds of acres infested with pigs in North Florida, why don't you organize a hunt? Guys would come from Alabama, Georgia, central Florida with their blaster 5000's and thermal scopes. It could be a fun event, scheduled quarterly or so. A man's outing and get together.

My best childhood friend (at age 17) would go into the woods with nothing more than a large hunting knife and man vs wild would come out of the woods a couple hours later dragging a dead boar. He loved that shit. The bigger and more dangerous they were, the bigger the smile on his face.

While .223/5.56 is not the ideal caliber it is plenty capable of putting hogs down with proper shot placement.

I wish I had a hog problem.

Personally, I think winged hogs would be the greatest of game animal. You could decoy flocks in, hunt them with pointers and flush them, pass shoot them as they migrated south...

Hogs are not a game animal in Texas. They may be hunted at any time. They may be hunted from vehicles, with lights at night, no limits, no restrictions on type, etc. You have to have a hunting license, but that is all.

Hunting can't put a dent in their numbers though, unless every Texas killed a hog or two every day.

They are delicious, but leaner than farm raised pigs. The bigger males aren't as good. They are the same animal as a farm pig, just gone feral.

I take mine to a butcher to be processed for sausage, and they add some fat to help with the flavor. Works perfectly for Italian sausage and brats.

Maybe Jaguars should be reintroduced into the south and southwest. They'd do a nice job keeping the hog population under control

They aren't a problem in northern Michigan yet but there is no season. You can shoot them with a deer tag, small game tag, fishing tag, or CPL! So someone thinks it's just a matter of time.

Next, bait the traps and build the trap one piece at a time to train the hogs to enter

The hogs will trap themselves when the hit the root stick

After pigs are in trap, eliminate

Sharp knives and helping hands are next

Landowners or their agents do not need a license to remove hogs that are destroying their property.

SIGforum hunt?

If 20 members went to your place I bet there'd be a lot fewer hogs when they leave.
