I love hunting hogs but you’ll never keep up by shooting one or two at a time. This is the best solution I’ve seen, check out some of their videos. I don’t know the cost but I’m sure it’s not cheap.

I'm surprised that we haven't seen any evidence of them here south of Groveland. We had 'em in Winter Garden, but they just aren't around this area much. Probably too much cross fence and cattle.

I shot MANY of them in South Texas. Sows and small boars are good eating. Nasty to clean in warm weather and flea-infested.

I need to find a place around Georgia to shoot a few. They make great sausage.

About three weeks ago on my buddies lease from the Lykes brother property. During the day rifles at night Bows as the property managers don't want us tagging one of their cows






It was unbelievable the action we had at night I ran out of arrows and the hogs at time where coming to us on the buggy with it running, crazy. Down wind we where able to drive that buggy up to em close enough for Bows.

I hunt them as often as I can! They can be GREAT eating if processed and cooked correctly. Nasty bastards they are..... I also suggest a Sigforum “hunt” and lets put a dent in them!!!!

I’ve never been hog hunting and am curious about what is done with the carcasses of the big ones that are not good to eat. Do you leave them where they drop or do something else?

We dump them in a ditch deep in the woods. Buzzards handle the rest

Well, our grandfathers did a great job of eradicating wolves, mountain lions, grizzlies, buffalo, etc....

Extinction is possible, but it takes a concerted effort. If they ever show up in this neck of the woods they'll be slaughtered.

Like I said..."If they had an intelligent policy I'd be amazed". Should call them vermin and kill them any time, by any means.

I had a conversation with the head of the Fish and Game in Kalispell some years back. He made the comment, "We don't manage fish and game, we manage people."

That says it all.

Artie, I see them mixed in with cattle everywhere. They dig up the earth and cattle can break a leg. The ranchers hate them. All of the hogs that I have taken, have been hanging out with cattle.

I use my Kubota to haul them to the end of the dead end road in the canyon and dump them there. It’s far enough from the house to keep the dogs from dragging pieces home.

1. $23.95 for a pig tag on your hunting lic. All you can shoot. No closed season. Normal hunting regs apply, 1/2 hour before after sun rise set, no driving off established roads ect. 2. Depredation permits easily avaliable, traps, artificial light , bait ect. 3. Encounter, if a landowner , his employee ect encounters hogs causing damage they can be destroyed, the only restriction as to how is lead free bullets. Dept Fish and Wildlife wants to be informed of all pig kills, and they may even be able to help landowners with problems. Wild pigs have appeared in North Dakota and Minnesota. If they are not in Montana yet they are on the way. Also, in my experience, contrary what everyone else seems to think, pigs are easy to kill. A 223 is fine. They don't attack humans or dogs unless cornered. Meat of the big ones can be fine, depends on diet, grapes , alfalfa or nuts , good. acorns not so much. Any pig that has been fighting dogs or running from horses is usually awful to eat.

Can a .223/5.56 put a hog down?

They are a shoot on sight in Missouri as well. I've never seen one on my place and I am in the woods a lot.
