Cat bite

Puncture wounds from upper fangs at 12 and 9 o'clock. Several smaller puncture wounds from lower jaw visible at 6 o'clock.

Chomped down, and upper and lower teeth tore out the two cherry-red areas.

I know the time and place and I know the perpetrator- a big black tom who sprayed our front door and chased Feeny into and out of our garage, but I didn't know until today that Feeny got bitten during the chase.

I told my wife that the next time I saw that little shit, I was going to bury my foot in its ass, but through her powers of persuasion, she bargained me down to shouting unkind words at it in a boisterous manner.

It's a moot point. That cat would never let me get within ten feet of it.

Anyway, life is getting back to normal here. Thanks for all the well-wishes.

Ouch. Hopefully he heals up quick and is back to normal.

The reason that cat was on our front porch was because my wife and I made the mistake of leaving food out for the neighborhood feline community, but as of this week, we have discontinued that practice.

We have an older female indoor cat which can barely tolerate the short visits Feeny makes inside. For as long as she is alive, Feeny will be an outdoor cat.

I dealt with a few bastard feral which were attacking my little Tiger and caused quite a injury. My boy couldn't even get up to go potty. Those 3 bastards ain't hurting nothing now.

Trap the tom, take him to the vet and have him fixed. Vets many times have funds to pay for fixing strays. That is what I did. Worked great. Although we had to pay a portion of his fixing.

Before I caught my Momma Kiki and her kittens, I refrained from putting food out because it would indeed attract all kinds of critters. Coons, Possum, etc.

Her nest w/ kittens was 15' from our front door in our window well so I would put fresh water out for good hydration but would hand feed her table meat scraps in the evening, sitting on the step, till she got her fill. Needing any more than that I figured she'd get from killin.

She's a sweetheart.

Never been much of a cat person, but our 2 boys have won me over, mostly. Still not a cat person, but these two, they're ok.

Dang, that's serious.
Had a cat that almost died from a cat bite. Didn't notice anything until the cat got sick.
The puncture developed into an abcess. Vet put in a drain tube, lots of meds and vet visits.
Neighbor took the tom cat and had him fixed, no more cat fights.

You Sir are a saint. If an animal came on my property and put holes like that in one of my critters I’d be sorely tempted to put a hole in it

Sounds like stopping the food outside is a good call.

That's a nasty wound, but glad everything is taken care of in time before it gets worse.

Thank you again 12131. This is my little Tiger friend. Two males were left behind when their owner moved on. I was taking care of both and a small business owner across the street adopted Tigers brother. His brother is a strong and agile cat over 12 pounds. My boy is a tad over 9. He is a great pet. He's always got me up early. Little guy went missing once for 9 days. I nearly gave up and he pops up on the porch. WTH cat ? He's a good boy. I hope your little fella heals up Para. Pretty confident he will.

Glad you got your buddy treatment. Ive seen those wounds to many times. Cats hide their injuries so well. Our guys have always responded quickly to antibiotics and a bit of hydration. Hope recovery is quick.
